As I was looking for a good government college where I can pursue my English honors course. Soon after I came to know about Bethune College and it provides one of the best ug courses all around West Bengal having extraordinary faculties and has all the modern facilities available to the students. Bethune College is an A-rated college and one of the oldest colleges in West Bengal. Students have to prepare and score well in their 12 boards, as one must require a minimum of 85% marks in their board exams and must have a score of more than 90% in subjects like English and Bengali. The release date of the admission form is specified on the college website. And you have to ensure the eligibility criteria before filling the admission form. Soon after the form is released students have to fill the form immediately and submit it. As there is a limited number of seats for every course and thousands of students apply for admission.

English honors graduates get a variety of Career Opportunities in fields where communication skills and critical thinking are highly valued. They can analyse rigorously , research effectively, and communicate with employers , and every one appreciate the ability of such graduates. From childhood i had a good grip on English and thats why i have chosen this course.Our university has set a rule that the student to faculty ratio must be not more than 1:20 so, our college has a student to faculty ratio of less than 1:20 To be honest our college has some of the best faculties. Their quality of teaching is really appreciable. All the teachers and non teaching staffs are very caring and student friendly. Practical classes are also held very carefully and the teachers also encourage students to participate in extra curricular activities besides their academics.

Students become eligible for campus placement during their third year of academics. Companies like TCS, HDFC BANK, Haldia Petrochemicals, WB Electrical Department visit our college and recruit students at the time of campus placements. The highest package offered is 9.7 lakhs per annum and the lowest package offered is 3.3 lakhs per annum. Around 70% of the total final year students get placed during the campus placements.

Being a government college the number of fees charged by the college is very low .The fees of my Ba English Honors course is less than a thousand i.e rs 660 per semester for every six months. Even the college helps those students who are daily passengers or who need financial support by reducing their fees and pay their daily transport costs.

Bethune college with its glorious legacy of academic excellence extends a platform for unveiling the extracurricular talents of the students through an annual fest popularly known as 'AALAP' . Aalap in itself is a carnival that upholds the celebration of youth, freedom, and the cultural diversities that we are proud of. The college library has around 100000 books and journals as its collection. One may also find rare books in the library. It has dedicated floors for the science and arts stream.

Our college has a newly build hostel building which provides accommodation to nearly 250 girls. The hostel building has several facilities like a seperate gym, indoor retail shops, small game courts, and a seperate study room for the students which is fully air-conditioned. The hostel food is quite decent as compared to the college canteen. Although it provides healthy foods and is highly concerned about the health of the students. They include vegetables and fruits with each and every meal and sometimes provide some special cuisines during any special occasions. Basically, i live in a dorm room. I share my room with 5 of my collegemates and the room is very big and spacious and has a clean toilet attached to it.
