Remarks
I took exams like JEE and NEET for admission to various colleges in the science stream. I also applied to some private colleges like Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) and Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) and some other colleges in Delhi University. Due to the pandemic, a lot of exams got cancelled and admission was on basis of 12th marks, also due to off timing of government and private college admissions, I was unable to attend the above-mentioned colleges. I chose Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology because of the course BTech Biotechnology and I was qualified to take the course as it required 80% marks in 12th standard. The admission process was smooth and easy and I did not avail any quota.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose the course BTech Biotechnology as I am a PCMB student and I have a good interest in biology. Biotechnology interested me as a subject and I also liked coding so, I went into engineering. The faculty here in NIET is pretty qualified and most of the biotechnology teachers have completed their PhD also. The faculty: student ratio is 1:10. The teaching methods vary from teacher to teacher but most of the methods are good and keeps the students interested. The exams were conducted on time and there were both offline and online exams. The difficulty level of exams was not high, they were pretty easy to understand and with good knowledge, one could pass the exams easily.
Internships Opportunities
I got an opportunity to work with IIT Bombay in an internship in Artificial Intelligence offered by Verzeo in collaboration with our college. It's very interesting to work on projects with different people. I also am a part of a startup of one of my seniors in college. I'm a part of the management and planning team.
Placement Experience
The students become eligible for the placements after the 3rd year of Engineering. About 90% of the students from most of the branches get placed every year. Students of biotechnology get placed in both biotech and CS industry. The highest salary package has gone to 13 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Amazon, TCS, Wipro, Pfizer, HCL, etc. The department also helps in grabbing various internships. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
The cost of studying at NIET is very affordable. the cost goes from 1lakh per year to 3 lakh per year depending upon the course taken. There isn't much fee hike lately and the fee has been decent. there are a lot of scholarships available for girls which provide a waiver of Rs. 100000 if the score is above 60% in the 12th standard. There is also a scholarship for meritorious students that have different internships or cash prizes for the top 3 students in the batch.
Campus Life
The campus life here at NIET is pretty decent and interesting. there are a lot of activities, competitions conducted. there are weeks like data science week and artificial intelligence week and many more conducted with cool projects and competitions. the library is big and has almost all the books related to the curriculum. the bookshelves are also well managed. Classrooms are wide and spacious with projectors in them. there are also a lot of clubs like the photography club, coding club, music club, and many more. a lot of extracurricular activities are conducted throughout the year.
