Remarks
I had applied to NEHU Shillong and Gauhati University for a Masters program. However, I got selected on a merit basis to the latter. Since I got inducted on a Bachelor degree marks' basis, the cutoff for General Category was 79%. The admission process was hassle-free.
Course Curriculum Overview
The master's course is career-oriented. It helps a student to explore different areas of interest. The student to teacher ratio is 40:1 which is not much of an issue. The faculties are well qualified and hold a satisfactory experience level. The teaching is imparted both practically and through theoretical methods. Exams are held on time but there are certain delays at times regarding the results of the semesters.
Placement Experience
The placements are provided as per different streams but the humanities stream is yet to provide campus placements according to different subjects under it. Engineering students do get a better placement option. The placements are around 70% every year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Being a state government-run institute, Gauhati university offers a very affordable fee structure. there are scholarships for the students in need based on academics and other relevant criteria. The campus placements are offered for the science and commerce stream. for humanities, the process of placement is underway.
Campus Life
The campus is full of excitement and full security. There is a well-fledged library. The classrooms are well equipped. Varsity weeks and extra co-curricular activites are held from time to time. Inter-college competitions, inter-district, etc are taken up as well for different departments.
