Doranda College tour

I applied for pursuing MSc in various colleges of Ranchi but finally settled in Doranda College for various reasons such as ease of attendance, liberty to gain knowledge in the way you like to and constant support of humble professors and staff. The admission process was quite smooth, started around June/July, may vary depending on the department. There was direct merit based admission based on a predetermined cut off which was 55% at that time, now it may change depending on seats available. The whole process took around 4-5 days, which may take less depending on the speed of yours as well as your staff. Department of Physics (New Building area) is the right place to enquire about the MSc admission process.

I chose MSc Physics because I am in love with the subject and as I had completed my bachelor's degree in Physics itself, Msc was the most suitable choice for me. In Doranda College, the faculty student ratio is quite good, it's 5: 40. There are 4 permanent faculty in Msc Physics Department and 1 guest faculty Dr Rajeev Asthana. All professors hold a PhD in their respective subjects and are very experienced and humble in teaching. Information about mid sem, project, practical and end sem exams are been circulated through what's app group of the department around 10-15 days before. Some Professors are very cooperative and guess questions and help students but performance in end sem depends on your hard work.

The fees is pre-decided and all the details are available on Doranda College and RANCHI University website . Fees is different for every course and department. For msc Physics , fees is around 1200 per semester , 3400 admission and 700 form filling. Scholarship is only for OBc/SC/ST students named as E-scholarship in which total fees are refundable. No scholarship for Gen category students . There is a placement cell in the college but it's not that active .

There is Youth Fest conducted annually by the University, different kinds of programs and activities are organised, a total celebration of 3 days. There is a library available in the college but there are no books present, you can go to the university for the same. Classrooms are normal with wide bench and green and blackboards. Development is in progress. Various sports and extra-curricular activities are available to participate in - volleyball, cricket, NCC, NSS, Free karate training for girls, etc. Various social groups and clubs are operating in college like College students union, ABVP, NSS, you may/create more once you are a part of the college.
