Remarks
The basic criteria to apply for PGDM was to get above 80 percentile in CAT/CMAT/XAT. My score was good enough to apply for the Mumbai campus as well as for the Banglore campus. The cost of the application form was 3000 INR and the whole application form process was online (even before the pandemic). Then after a certain duration college will let you know if your application is accepted or not. Then on that same platform, there was an option to select centre and time slot for interview from available options. First, there was a gd round and then there was PI. Topics of GD are usually current affairs based and it completely depends on your communication skills to get a good score. Pi is very subjective it completely depends on details that are provided by students in the application form.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is really great and very diverse. Welingkar follows a trimester pattern and so exams are held every 3-4 months. The business design faculty is really great. It is a mixture of young and experienced professors so you will get to learn a lot. Almost all the faculty members are PhD holders. The business design has a capacity of 60 students so every professor knows almost everyone from the class.
Internships Opportunities
Summer internships are an important part of the curriculum and welingkar takes it very seriously. many companies come for hiring interns and a very diverse set of roles are offered with stipends varying from 5000-50000 and above. Tasks in internships are domain based like HR students get to take interview analysts get to do research etc. Internships are for students to get a glimpse of the corporate world.
Placement Experience
In the second or third trimester companies start to recruit interns and it continues till all the students get an internship. For executive placements, companies start recruiting from the 5th trimester. Many companies such as Capgemini, Infosys, Morgan Stanley, TCS etc recruit from welingkar. You can visit welingkar site for the total number of companies and details. 90-95% of students get placed. the average package of students is around 8-9 lakhs.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee structure: Fees are accepted in 4 instalments of 275000 as compared to other b-schools ROI of welingkar is really great Total fee of welingkar is 1100000 INR. Fee is same for all PGDM courses. Welingkar provides its students with SIP opportunities. By doing internships students can earn a good stipend and use it for their expenses. Fee hikes and fee structure policies are available on welingkar website.
Campus Life
Welingkar is full of amenities AC classrooms, a huge library also Bloomberg lab is available and accessible to all the students. The gender ratio of welingkar BD 20-22 batch is 20 boys 40 girls. The gender ratio of welingkar is almost 50:50 so the gender ratio is really great. Extracurriculars are not really great in welingkar except technical tours and prototyping activities which are very common on campus. Welingkar has a huge collection of books and journals also elibrary option is available.
Hostel Facilities
Welingkar offers hostel facilities which are really rare when it comes to the Mumbai campus. Both AC/non AC rooms are available in hostels and fees to vary according to it. Welingkar hostel is in scion which is very close to Matunga where wlingkar is located. students have to apply for hostel separately by submitting a form. The meal facility is not provided in the hostel.
Interview Experience
Yes, welingkar follows the GDPI process for admission to all the PGDM courses. GD topics are generally based on current affairs or social issues. GD topic for my GD was "Role of women in the corporate industry". Scoring in GD completely depends on your communication skills. For admission entrance exam considered are- 1.CAT 2.XAT 3.CMAT 4.CET(not sure for this year) Interview questions are mostly based on things that are mentioned in the application form and also current affairs. 2 panelists are there they usually ask questions related to your hobbies, workex if any, projects etc.
