Remarks
I applied for the Institute of Law, Nirma University apart from NLUs. I did not avail any quota for admission at the Institute of Law, Nirma University. Admission at ILNU is completely based on CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) scores. The admission process was not very hectic.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose BA. LLB is my course in order to have an excellent understanding of Law as a subject. Faculty to student ratio is not very good at ILNU. I am not much aware of the qualifications of the faculty. The teaching methods have been mostly online for the previous year and this year. The examinations are held very timely and it was moderately difficult to pass. The questions were mostly from the topics discussed during lectures.
Internships Opportunities
Internships at ILNU starts from the first year itself. The students can either choose their desired organizations for internship and apply by themself. Or they can ask the Internship cell to help them get an internship and the college would help them acquire one. The projects and outcomes depend on the organisation or place you are interning at and it broadly includes legal research, drafting and on-ground works.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements from the 8th or 9th semester. The top legal firms that visit the campus include Amarchand Mangaldas, Trilegal etc. The placement from ILNU is decent and is consistently on the upward trend. The average package is 6-7 lac p.a. and the highest from campus placement goes approximately upto 12 lac p.a. Percentage of students getting placements is over 70%. I plan to prepare for the judiciary after getting the degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is semester-based. Approximately 1.2 lac per semester including examination fee, makes it approximately 2.5 lac per anum. The opportunity for scholarships is considerably low at our institute. They make things hectic and take a lot of time in informing about any updates and also in making clarifications. I am not getting any kind of scholarship or financial assistance from the college yet.
Campus Life
Don't have much experience regarding life on campus. Couldn't visit the campus due to the pandemic. Based on the interaction with other students, I can see that the seniors are very helpful, probably the best part of ILNU is the support you get from your seniors. Regular fests are organised by the institute and different clubs which include Debate Society, Music Committee, Legal Aid Clinic etc.
Interview Experience
For admissions, one need to go through CLAT examination and later the admissions are based on the ranks in CLAT. The procedure also includes group discussion which although does not hold much credit. I prepared for the CLAT examination last year which wasn't a very good experience because of the pandemic and the examination pattern change.
