Remarks
The system of the college is completely biased. They prefer south Indians to north Indians. They have strict rules and regulations. They have fines for almost any damn reason. Even if you touch a girl for more than three seconds, you are fined 3000 INR.
Entrance Preview
I recently took the JEE Mains and scored exactly 100 marks i.e. the cutoff marks. As I had performed so badly, I had no option but to opt for VIT University.
Course Curriculum Overview
As I am in 1st year, I currently have no knowledge of this issue. However, looking at the syllabus and curriculum I can surely say that I will get a hard time over the next four years of my college life. I have opted for specialization in IoT (Internet of Things) and Sensors. It is a completely different and new field.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, there are many internships provided. You can go abroad through AEISEC society and do a very good internship compared to other colleges in India. Then there are other industrial ones about which I have no idea right now.
Placement Experience
Again, being in my first year I, myself haven't got the experience to browse through the vacant job opportunities. But there are a huge number of jobs available here, we even got ourselves into the Guinness Book of World record for most placements in a year.
College Events
There are two major events that happen in college. One is Gravitas the annual technological fest and the other is Riveria the cultural fest. Both the fests are equally bad. The tech fest was three days long and had no fun whatsoever. You are not allowed to go outside after 9 PM so basically, you can't enjoy it. The other cultural fest divides the girl and boys and you can't hang out together during events.
Fees and Financial Aid
If you are the topper in your city you are largely benefited. There are many other scholarships available, which you can avail of if you are a bright student of the class.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors are particularly helpful. Ragging over here is banned. There are many chapters and clubs through which you can interact with seniors if you want.
Exam Structure
The life of an engineer is always hectic, be it any college. But over here, there are three exams each Sem (CAT-1/50M, CAT-2/50M, FAT/100M). Speaking about labs, the labs are very cool, however, most of the sites are banned on all computers. After the exams, you usually get breaks in which you can go to your hometown or nearest cities like Bangalore or Pondicherry.
Admission
I got admission through a rigorous process that involved getting admission based on the marks you scored in the entrance exam VITEE which were divided categorically. Simply, rank and money are directly proportional to the chances of getting the best stream i.e. CSE.
Faculty
They are mostly South Indians and in my opinion, they don't even have a sound knowledge of their own subjects. They are pretty average and their standards are not up to the marks. This is an area that needs more focus in the future from the chairman. Also, the good teachers are given to the CSE batches so this is another disadvantage.
