Entrance Preview

I dint took any exam to get admit to this college. I just applied based on my Bachelors degree score and based on the highest marks of all the BSc candidates applied for the course, I had been selected and I was in the top selected student list in 2004.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course structure was really awesome. They had kept the basics which we studied in the BSc, so that it will be helpful for the other students who are from non geology background. The practical's were really good. All the subjects had the practical's. Even the Remote sensing and GIS subject was superb.

Internships Opportunities

No our college doesn't provided any internship when I was studying during 2004 Companies like Aaditya Birla, Dempo, Salagaonkar and De Beers. Most of the Iron ore Mining Companies came for the campus recruitment and only one Company which was in to Diamond exploration and mining came for the interview and selected most of my seniors and also I got selected in 2007.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placement and the job opportunity for a Geologist is minimal usually. But in our batch of 2006 most of my friends were got a campus placement in reputed mining companies and GIS companies. Few have opted for Government jobs after completing their studies. So campus placement was ok that time.

College Events

4

Technically you are allowed to do research and present technical papers. The college was supporting the students to get involved in the annual festival department wise then followed by the best performer in different sports including outdoor and indoor games.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship was there but I don't have any idea on the Loans, because either me or any of my friends took any loans.

Campus Life

3.5

Gender wise the ratios was really good. all the cultural activities were done without gender discrimination. Everyone has to participate in the cultural activity. Each and every department has to do something culturally. So everyone was actively participated in the annual fest.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostels were there within the campus and there were 2 types of hostels like all other categories one hostel which is payed hostel and for the SC/ST they have a separate block. But all the students used to enjoy a lot together irrespective of any category.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes we had a old association student alumina. Every 6 months we used to meet at that time. It was very much useful as we had opportunity to meet all the seniors.

Exam Structure

Exams was bit hectic. Because we had a semester type exams and it was 4 semester with 6 subjects all the subjects had practical's. But I enjoyed the subject. The Days were not so hectic as we had a very good environment for the studying and also we had lots of sports activity which made us engaged all the time and we were quite busy during all the semesters.

Faculty

4.5

All the faculties are well known doctorate holders with vast experience in teaching. Few faculties are very well popular with their knowledge and they used to publish lots of technical papers which were accepted by most of National and International Journals. Few professors are having 30 years of teaching experience.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Food and nutrition articles in newspaper made me to take this course. As it had full scope in that time. Actually curriculum is very poor in preparing us for real world application. Practical session must include more of industrial visits and projects related to industry. We had enough time to study .

Course Curriculum Overview:

I liked this biotechnology course in degree(Bsc) and i wanted to continue this course with higher studies. Hence this university is reputed one in Karnataka.. i choose this one and I got the seat and I am very happy for this. The teaching methods are really good but it depends on particular lecturers, how they teach .. For main sem exam the time was around 3 hours for 70 marks and it was moderate and can be manageable

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is fairly distributed among the 2 years. The first year broadly covers the course work, and learning of the laboratory techniques. Followed by a mini project and a major project under a professor of interest. Stem cell biology always intrigued me and this course offered exactly what I want. The curriculum focuses on training students very rigorously to make them fit for harsh conditions and situations in the real research world.
