Wonderful college

The college was a transformation opportunity for me. The first time I was part of an inter-collegiate symposium. The paper presentation I did boosted my morale. The 3 years I spent in the college were life changing.

In 2003, the college had it's own examination. Post the examination, we had group discussion. The initial set of 30 people already had the MCA course started. We were from the second set of 30 people and we had to go through GD in addition to the examination.

The course curriculum was based on Madurai Kamaraj University board. Our juniors batch (2004) was the last batch that had MK University syllabus. Right from our sub-juniors (2005), the college started adopting Anna university syllabus. The syllabus is far better than MK University syllabus.

None that I have seen as part of MCA. Companies do visit the college for campus recruitment. Even for our MCA project, we used to search for opportunities outside on our own.

Placement and Job opportunities are really good. Even during the tough years such as 2003, we got good number of companies visiting us. The college was Dote-1 4th during those times. Not quite sure of the current rank. However, it is well lauded for the placement opportunities.

The college hosts technical symposium every year, which includes contests such as debugging, paper presentation, etc. Being one of the top 5 engineering colleges, it used to draw good participation every year. I have part of the organizing committed in the final year. Also, the college encourages students to participate in inter collegiate symposium by granting them leave on the participating days.

For the first batch of students, the fee structure is normal. I was from the second batch, which was bit expensive. 25000 per semester. I studied through education loan. Total strength is 60 members, 30 normal (exam alone) and 30 through self financing (exam and GD).

Scholarship is offered to deserving candidates abiding by government norms. Nothing in offer as loan.

The labs are well equipped. The campus just like every other engineering college, is located on the outskirts of Madurai. Have to walk or travel a distance to go inside the college. The college in terms of diversity is really good. Students from all walks of life study in the college irrespective of their socio economic status

It was really good. Only vegetarian food is provided. We used to have annual sports event and college day every year. Eminent persons like professor Gnyanasam bandhan used to visit the college during the days. The room is shared for 1st years. Second and final year students used to get individual rooms.

There is a facebook page and the students connect with the alumni over mail as well. Some even visit the college to impact knowledge on the currently prevailing industry conditions.

I found the exam structure really hard (Even with MK University syllabus). Coming from the B.Sc exam structure, I found was extremely hard. Not quite sure of how things would have been in anna university syllabus. More than content, most of the students were used to fill up papers. We used to have exam, lab and viva voce every semester from second year.

As detailed out in answer to Q1, there was an examination post which there was a group discussion. 30 members were chosen as second batch of MCA students. The first batch had examination alone. The course too started early for the first batch of students.

The faculties are really good. Except for the first year (where ME students also used to take classes during my collegiate years), rest of the staff are really experienced and good. Not sure how much things would have changed in the past 13 years. But the experienced staffs had exceptional teaching skills.
