Remarks
I applied to only IIT's namely Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur and Roorkee. Based on rank since I got chemical engineering seat at IIT Delhi so opted for that. I belong to the general category, hence no quota. For admission one has to clear jee mains as well as jee advanced and then based upon rank he/she can choose his/her stream. The admission process was very smooth, once you freeze your seat you need to go to IIT Delhi or your zonal IIT and submit the forms which they ask for and get your photograph done for the I-card.
Course Curriculum Overview
As I said earlier everyone here comes only because of their rank and there is nothing much one can do for that. Faculty-student ratio was like 1:10. Faculties here are very much qualified almost all of them are PhD's and most of them have very good subject knowledge but might lack in teaching. Exams here were very difficult, one has to actually study to pass exams. We used to have 2 minors and 1 major in a semester.
Internships Opportunities
Companies do come for internships but not that much as compared to placements. Not everybody gets placed for an internship. People usually take internships on their own in different kinds of startups. For technical jobs, one should prepare some projects on web development and android development since these jobs are pretty much easy to crack.
Placement Experience
Companies come for campus placements during the 7th semester and almost everybody gets placed here. All top notch companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Goldmann Sachs visit campus every year and provide offers according to their needs. Percentage of Students placed >90% definitely
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee for each semester is close to 1 lac but yeah one gets a scholarship based upon his/her family income. Also, people get Merit-cum-means scholarships if they perform well in academics. On-campus jobs are of only teaching assistants which only those people who are very good in a course can get.
Campus Life
Rendezvous (RDV )(conducted in the month of October) is the annual cultural fest of IIT Delhi which is North India's Biggest Festival while Tryst (conducted in Feb) is the technical fest which is not that good as compared to RDV. All types of course-related books are available in the library.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel room includes a bed and an almirah with the just fan. You need to buy your own cooler. Mess food is actually messed food that can't be eaten every day. hostel rooms are very much affordable only 25k per semester everything included
