Remarks
before taking admission to Ranaghat college I also applied to chakdaha college and Kalyani University. I was eligible to take admission in those colleges but I chose ranaghat college because it is situated in the shortest distance from my home about 45 minutes distance by train and walks. I was selected in the OBC-B quota during admission. Minimum percentage of number for taking admission in geography Hons for this college is 65% and the age of the student should be 18 or above. The admission process was very easy. If someone is eligible to take admission to this college, his name will be listed in the counseling list. My name was listed in the first counseling list.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose the geography Hons course because I was very interested to do higher studies in geography. 60:80 Qualification of the faculty is b.ed or p.h.d. The semester-wise exams are quite timely but sometimes there seems a little delay in exams. The examinations are a bit hard to pass as the syllabus of hons is not so easy to complete.
Fees and Financial Aid
•Our geography Hons department takes about 10,000 rupees for yearly basis study though in the other colleges the fees are not that high like this. Though it is a little bit costly to study geography honors in this college, the yearly fees are too much. • I got an OBC-B quota scholarship on yearly basis.
Campus Life
There occurs an annual fest in the mid of the year, likely in the month of May or June. The library of Ranaghat college is very good. There is a collection of different types of books in a sufficient quantity. But most of the books are not allowed to take home, they are considered to read in the library room. A projector is available in the classroom. The room is well managed and structured with light and air availability. They hardly happen any sports or extra curriculum activity on the campus. Regular NCC classes are observed in the college ground. There is no social group clubs or website for students run by students.
