Remarks

After the NEET result was out, an online counselling procedure started on the website mcc.nic.in. The counselling was for the 15% All India quota, Delhi University colleges ( MAMC, LHMC , UCMS)and IPU (VMMC ). I had applied for the AIIMS, MAMC , VMMC, LHMC , UCMS in the respective sequence. According to my preference and ranking(7742), I was allotted to LHMC. After allotment to DU college one have to register with fmsc.ac.in I had done my schooling from Delhi itself through which I availed Delhi quota. Central OBC quota was also a major boon and was the no. 2 to be allowed a seat under the same category. The minimum age was 17 and qualifying marks were 133-107 for the OBC category (yet one needs a pretty good score to get admitted to such a prestigious college). After online allotment, we had to report to college within a period of 3days with our required documents. The procedure for physical verification was smooth and systematic.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

To be a doctor was my dream and to achieve the same I had chosen MBBS. Lady Hardinge Medical College is one of the prestigious colleges in the nation. The teacher faculty ratio is also pretty decent. It depends on the department as well. As in Physiology, it is 1: 10, in Anatomy department the table is of 1: 30. All the teachers also belong to the cream colleges and universities of the country and keep themselves updated with the latest teaching methods. The exam schedule was handed over to us at the beginning itself but University had to make some changes to it due to the outbreak of COVID-19. The proffs were offline and were a bit tough. All the DU Medical Colleges had to give the professional exams together.

Internships Opportunities

5

Internship has to be done in the hospital associated with the college. Postings are done in Smt. Sucheta Kriplani Hospital and Kalwati Saran Children Hospital. Some postings are done in Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital as well. Details of the stipend are yet unknown to me. Various PG courses are available here.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees is quite less as it is a central government institution. Just 1350 INR. There are various scholarships available for the learners here. But one must fulfil the criteria for them. During the internship, one gets a stipend as well. And up to final year there is no stipend .

Campus Life

5

There are 2 Fests conducted at LHMC - SPLASH the annual inter-college cultural fest and COBWEB the annual Intra college fest. SPLASH is one of the best college fests among all the DU colleges and it is usually in March -April. There is a 3-floor library and one floor completely for journals (current+previous ). The archive section has old books and journals before 1975. Due to lack of space sports activities are not so good but the different cultural societies are very much active throughout the year. Different societies are VIOLA - Dance, Jijeevisha - Drama, Aarohana - music, Inklings -literary, Vencedor - sports, Graffiti - Arts, Belleza -fashion, Perspective - photography society. Students usually are active in different social groups. Namely groups active in my college are MSAI, AMSA, NMO and many other. Student leadership missions are also there under the guidance of the professors.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostel is provided to the students by the institute. In the first year, the hostel room is shared among 3 people, All India quota students are allotted first and after that 2-3 rounds of allotment goes for Delhi Quota students. The allotment is purely based on the distance from the college of their native area. Most students get the room. In the 2nd year, hostellers are shifted to other blocks and now the room is shared among 2people. Single rooms are given in internship.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The MBBS curriculum is mostly standard, but its relevance is super high because of the massive patient load at SJH. That clinical exposure is the key thing that prepares you for both real life and NEET PG later—that’s why I chose VMMC. Improvements? We need less lecturing and more interactive case discussions and maybe more emphasis on research. Exams are non-stop, seriously! We have internals/semester exams every 3-4 months. They are tough (50% passing), but they force you to study well for the final big Proffs. It’s tiring, but it works.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very well structured and includes detailed study of all the aspects of medicine which is very relevant in today's world. Since mbbs curriculum is more about practical and less about theory we get a really good patient exposure which makes us ready to deal with patient problems in real life. The course curriculum can be made a little less hectic as in fourth year there are 11 subjects to cover so they can be distributed equally in all the other years and teaching methods can be made more interactive instead of professors just reading the slides monotonously

Curriculum of mbbs is very comprehensive and makes you capable of handling medical emergencies, and not miss out on diagnosing critical cases. With the new CBME curriculum by nmc in place, additional focus is also given on the AETCOM (attitude, ethics and communication) module which is aimed at improving the quality of healthcare professionals produced by this country.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is decided by the NMC therefore it is same for all of the doctors. Our college has a good clinical exposure and thus we learn a lot. The course prepares you well, but you always have to learn by yourself. In the area of clinical expertise the treatment of common disease must be taught separately. We have exams Nearly every 3 months, which can be tough to manage, considering that you have to score an average of more than 50% in them . Difficulty level is intermediate
