New gen IIMs? Do not hesitate for pursuing MBA.

I got offers from new generation IIM's such as Sambalpur, Bodhgaya, Jammu. I have selected IIM Jammu for pursuing MBA in Marketing and Human Resource Management domains.The Campus placements were good, with the average package of about 9+ LPA which is decent for a new generation IIM.Faculty - Some good professors especially in Marketing, Finance, Strategy, Analytics domains. Jammu city was well connected with other metropolitan cities such as Delhi, Chandigarh, Srinagar, Mumbai, Hyderabad. The Temporary campus was small in size but has all the required amenities such as spacious Classrooms, Huge and well maintained garden area, well maintained Hostels separate for seniors and juniors. The Permanent Campus is being built in Nagrota, Jammu in 200 acres. The IIT Jammu campus is in 1 km radius of the permanent campus of IIM Jammu.

Course Curriculum - On par with other IIM'sAcademics - pedagogy was case study based with HBR articles, Ivey publications, Harvard Case studiesFaculties - some excellent faculties in Finance, Marketing, Strategy and Analytics. Visiting faculties from IIM Lucknow, MDI, IMT Ghaziabad for courses such as Business Communication. Foreign faculties from Montepellier Business School, Manchester Business School for Supply Chain Management/Operations management.

Highest stipend on par with top IIMs, 3 lakhs/2-month summer internship programs. Average stipend would be around 50-60k/2 months.Companies include Big4, giants in FMCG, analytics, consulting, manufacturing, Insurance services. Eg: EY, Deloitte, Amul, Tata Steel, Tata AIG, Schindler, TechM, ICICI etc.Roles: Finance interns in Valuation, General management, market research interns, HR Strategy interns, TA, CRM etc.

On par and sometimes even better than 2nd gen IIMs such as Udaipur, Amritsar, Raipur, Rohtak, Vizag. Better than Bodhgaya, Sambalpur and other new gen IIMs.Job opportunities are really very good. Majority of students from IIM Jammu are placed in Marketing and Finance roles. Operations and HR opportunities are relative to that of the number of students choosing those domains. Significant rise in Consulting roles year by year.

Fee was moderately high at around 12 lakhs per 2 years including academic fee, hostel fee, wifi connectivity around campus, infrastructure, library, reference books.Scholarships were available for students from under represented communities, financially backward families. Institute would provide assistance in applying scholarships.

Life at IIM jammu campus was excellent. The clubs and committees stand as a bolster for the social life in institute. The committees and clubs are overlooked by the well formed student council. At the time of events, annual fest (EMPYREAN), management fest (Kaavish) ad-hoc teams are created with supervision of the respective clubs.The committees were responsible for interaction with industry for placements, guest lectures. Clubs were responsible for taking informal sessions, provided training for certifications.

Hostel facilites were good. Students were provided with 2 seater rooms. Well maintained rooms, floors and washrooms. Hygiene was maintained.Mess services were provided in accordance with menu provided by mess committee. North Indian thali, Occasionally south indian dishes, Vegetarian and Non-Veg food is served. Quality of food was really good.
