Entrance Preview
I wrote IIT JEE, SRMJEE, and VITEEE. I secured ranks in SRMJEE and VITEEE. Ranked 1704 in SRMJEE and 39000 in VITEEE. Chose VITEEE because its facility for my desired field of study is the best.
Course Curriculum Overview
I cannot exactly comment on this because I just got over with my first semester, which had no program electives. Though the core subjects did turn the student focus on research by giving us real-time projects and experiments to do. Since nearly every subject has a project component in the curriculum, I am pretty sure the students will get the opportunity to explore way beyond the walls of the classroom.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, our university does provide internships to us. The general stipend from what I have heard is around Rs 2000. I am a fresher and have not been eligible for an internship so I cannot really say how the experience will be.
Placement Experience
Placements are ample. Nearly all the seniors got placed in some company or the other, that is around 7400+ students. Top recruiting companies are TCS, Cognizant, and Wipro. Packages ranging from Rs 75000 to Rs 1500000 have been offered here, job prospects for Biotech are bleak as India still does not see its potential. But students do get jobs in core companies so it evens out.
College Events
We have two main tech fests namely graVIT and Riviera. There are other fests that are organized but the events there fail to interest students from other programs. All students are involved in infests, and even the faculty are a big part of it, without them, it would have not been possible to have fests here.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible till Category-3. Beyond that it becomes expensive. The college also provides scholarships to top rank holders. Category-1 fees are 198K, Category-2 fees are 240K, Category-3 fees is 290K, Category-4 fees is 350K, Category-5 fees is 400K.
Fees and Financial Aid
University provides full scholarships to state board toppers. Under 20000 rank holders get the scholarship of 25% waived per year. While under 10000 rank holders get 50% waived per year. The college has scholarships for the needy as well, to which one can apply avail if he/she meets the requirements.
Alumni/Alumna
Interaction with seniors is minimal. If one knows a few seniors before joining VIT then there is some interaction but otherwise, there isn't much interaction. One way to get to know more seniors is by being a part of clubs and chapters, and events.
Exam Structure
The entire week as a whole is not that hectic if one does what he/she is supposed to do. Owing to a surge of classes on a particular day, lab work does become hectic but it's nothing that one can't handle. There are three-term exams and there are gaps between required subjects, so as long as your wheels are churning it's alright.
Admission
I was called for the 2nd round of counseling. Seats were given to students on a merit basis, and those who secured higher ranks obviously got the first choice. All the forms to be submitted and their details were available online on the university website.
Faculty
The teachers are good (whoever I have known till now). There is a communication problem, but once one gets used to it things become better. Especially for the biotechnology program, we have some of the best teachers in the institute, where most of them being Ph.D. holders.
