Remarks
1) I also applied for VIT (VELLORE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY) but later drop the idea of VIT due to expensive fee structure and moreover it was way far from my home town. 2) I availed OBC-NCL quota for taking admission in MBM ENGINEERING COLLEGE. 3) Admissions in MBM is through JEE MAINS score, the merit list is completely based on JEE MAINS score. There is no such minimum marks as the cut-off vary year to year (but one must atleast qualify the JEE MAINS exam).[my JEE MAINS score was 154] 4) There was an offline counselling at my time i.e. 2016.The candidate has to report at the MBM college within the given period of time as mentioned by the university along with their qualifying documents for document verification which is held manually by assigned officers.
Course Curriculum Overview
1) Choosing stream or branch totally depends on the candidate's need and interest. I chose EE (ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING) as of my interest in machines and transformers. 2) Faculty of EE is quite good as compared to other branches of mbm in terms of dicipline and punctuality. In my batch 56 students were enrolled in EE (including 25 girls and 31 boys). 3) Senior faculty is highly qualified and experienced, almost everyone in senior faculty has completed Phd.MBM also hires faculty from TEQUIP organised by central government of india.Though the TEQUIP faculty was not upto the mark and lack essential knowledge in their field and were not experienced at all. 4) There is always some delay in semester exams till 3rd year but you will get your degree on time. Passing in semester exams is not a big deal as previous year papers are available in the college stationary and the papers are designed totally based on previous years papers.
Placement Experience
1) Students are eligible from 6 semester onwards for campus placements. 2) Companies visited are L&T ,INCENTO,VEDANTA etc. 3) Very less students are placed ,only 2-3% students are placed on an average. 4) I am planning for government jobs after degree completion.
Fees and Financial Aid
1) The fees structure is on the lower side and fees hike rarely happens during the 4 years course of engineering. The fees structure is as follows; for UR and OBC-NCL Rs. 15,000/ per semester for SC and ST Rs. 7,500/ per semester HOSTEL FEES is Rs. 10,000/ per year for all categories 2) Various scholarship schemes are there for financially weaker section students named MBM ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP ,SUMEDHA SCHOLARSHIP etc.
Campus Life
1) Many fests are organised during the four year course named BHOMSA FEST , FRESHERS ,FAREWELLS etc are organised. 2) Library is not well equiped with latest books and editions but still you will get the orthodox engineering books. 3) Not even basic amenities are available ,cieling fans are not working and tubelights are damaged and are not in good condition. 4) Sports and extra curricular activities are performed at basic level only. 5) Many websites are run by mbm students for second hand books, laundry, old papers etc.
Hostel Facilities
Infrastructure is the term in which mbm lacks behind almost 2-3 decades. However, the hostels are totally affordable but with very poor infrastructure. Students are provided with a broken chair , rusted table and bed with 3 legs in a hostel room. Hostel fees is 10,000 per year. Mess is really a mess 0 for hygiene, 0 for food quality and 0.1 for taste.
Other Applied Colleges
VELLORE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (VIT) | MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
VIT WAS WAY MORE EXPENSIVE AND MORE OVER VERY FAR FROM MY HOME TOWN
