ADITI NEEMA's Review On IIT Delhi - Indian Institute Of Technology [IITD], New Delhi

I think I made the best decision to choose IIT Delhi. The 4 years which I might spend here are going to be the most beautiful and memorable of my life. Each and every thing is managed so nicely by our professors, seniors or fellow students that it can never get any bad remarks.

I cleared JEE mains and then was selected to appear in JEE advanced 2015. I got 290/540 and secured AIR-718 which led to my selection in IIT Delhi. I had interest in Electrical Engineering and so opted for it.

The course structure is so informative and help us give almost all the knowledge which is required for research. Makes us confident enough to answer queries or questions asked by any person to judge our skills. There are 10 credits needed to be done of department electives which gives us a detailed information about any of the topic in which we are interested.

Yes, IIT Delhi provides internship at a large scale. The stipend and overall experience depends on the professor under whom you spend your time and do internship. It is a great experience working under a highly qualified professor of IIT Delhi.

This year, we had almost 60 placements on day-1 which was much disappointing. Companies which came to campus- Microsoft, samsung, dell, nvidia, honda, clustr, zendrive, APT Portfolio, Schlumberger, Fujikara HSBC(Software I) Qualcomm(All Profiles), QuadEye Tower Research (Both profiles) Oracle - Member Technical Staff - Redwood Shores Profile, Bain, DirectI, ITC, Parthenon, WorldQuant, ISRO, A.T.Kearney (both profiles), BCG, Goldman Sachs, P&G, I dont know much about the packages offered by the companies.

IIT Delhi remains much active in technical, cultural and management fests. "TRYST" is the main technical fest in which almost all the DU colleges participate. "RENDEZVOUS" is the central Asia's second biggest fest. It is a cultural fest in which colleges all over India participate.

Since it is a government college, the fee structure is feasible for middle class people. It is approximately rs. 52,000 per semester and additional hostel fees is of rs. 17,000. There are many scholarships for MCM people and category students which make it feasible for them too.

There are many scholarships offered by IIT Delhi, which are mainly for MCM and category students. IIT Delhi also offers scholarship for top 7% candidates who scores better CGPAs. We get frequent mails about the scholarship offered outside campus which let us be updated about whats happening outside the campus.

Selection in any of the extra co-curricular activities in any of the IIT will be much fighter for boys than girls because of the less population of girls in IIT. The sex ratio inside IIT is 1 girl for 8 boys. IIT delhi has many technical and non- technical clubs which are worked in by students themselves studying. Although funds are managed by the staff.

Our hostel rooms are being shared by three of us. It helps us in creating a great bond between atleast 3 of us. We develop qualities of sharing and caring. Hostel facilities are satisfactory in terms of cleaning and everything is available inside the campus only. Mess food is also nice. Although it can never replace the food made by our mothers but yeah, the mess food does not make us miss the home food.

There is alumni meet every year. Being in hostel between seniors makes a great bonding between us. Seniors are the crucial part of any sets of procedures taking place. They are most experienced and gives us the best of their knowledge. I can't imagine my life at IIT without seniors or alumnis.

The quizzes are very frequent. There are 2 minor exams which help us know the course in a detailed fashion. Any of the lab day consists of submission of lab reports and were needed to give feedback of whatever did on that day's laboratory. There is a major exam in the end of semester which consists of 50% of the course credits.

I secured AIR-718. Then we were supposed to deposit 45000 in any of the IIT. We needed to fill our preference list of colleges and branches. There were 3 rounds and we could make the changes in our list. There was a mock round which already informed us about the branch we might get. During deposition of money, we were given 3 options(slide, freeze, float). Then according to our option all the changes are made and we are given the final branch and college. Then we come to our selected college and submit some undertakings.

Almost all the professors here in IIT Delhi are well qualified. Some have done their B.Techs from IITs only and many of them are PhD scholars from famous universities and under famous professors. They are so fluent and easily solves all our problems. They are also friendly and does not do any partiality as done in many of the schools.
