Remarks
If there is a good, there is always a bad and that is the law of nature. Here it was the placement cell for me. I was selected on one of the campus interviews and was shortlisted to travel to another city for an interview. After that there was no word from the placement cell. If it were only me i could has considered that i was disqualified, but the lot of 10 students including me never got any information from the placement cell. I cordially enquired the placement cell on behalf of the students many time in no vain.
Entrance Preview
The Bsc. Visual communication course provided at PSG CAS is highly crafted. Each and every element of the media field along with the supporting infrastructure made me join the course. The syllabus was expanded over a varied field of interests. The admission was ease. Initially i filled the application form provided in the college, mentioning my bio-data and my grades. After reviewing the application form and checking the availability of seat i was called for an interview with the principal of the institution. The interview was a brief one, mainly to check our english proficiency and know more about us. And i was selected abruptly. Followed by which a compensation fee was paid to the PSG trustee via a DD. Hence other formalities of commencement of class and other details were mailed to my address within a week.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course explores a variety of subjects in every semester. The student is given a brief introduction yo courses varying from advertising to story writing, photography to sound production and so on. Along with a well trained staff who have had first hand experience in the field help to students inculcate more knowledge about the syllabus.
Internships Opportunities
The internship provided by college is brief. The internship varied accordingly with the course you have chosen.
Placement Experience
There is an independent placement cell in the college who specialises solely for the purpose of placement for the students. Depending on the course one has chosen the placement package may vary. To tell about the placement of the course which i undertook was very less. I don't think none of my batch mates got any placements via college. We paved our own path after graduation. The placement is a big negative on the side of the college, but the value of the degree certificate from PSG CAS will enable you to be placed at any work you desire.
College Events
PSG CAS has n-number of events conducted on their premises every year. One could easily spot some or the other event being conducted in the auditorium very week, not that you will miss any classes. The events are categorical. They are based on various departments, clubs, festivals etc. It is one's own personal choice to attend them. There is always choice for classes or events, (choose wisely).
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is very feasible. There are options for scholarships and any loans which are processed with ease, so don't worry in running pillar to pillar to get a loan. The fees can be paid both online and offline mode. Besides the semester fee, there is a small fee for exams.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are numerous amount of scholarship programs available in the college and attractive loans for education from various banks. I personally did not apply for a scholarship or a bank loan as i was able to meet the expense of the fees.
Campus Life
If i were writing a review now the reason is solely because of the college. Hailing from a small town, the exposure to the city life changed me a lot. The college made me to travel and explore more. This review more than the price money, it was the topic of talking about college made me attend it. Campus life is the most memorable pace of everybody's life and so was mine. The girls were very friendly and everyone was from a diverse background. It was especially the coordination with locals that helped me to learn the way of culture and the language of the city. Talking of extracurricular activities, the options spanned a long list. Even though the college ends at 3pm, i will reach my hostel well after 6pm. I used to sit in the lab learning new things. The library was my best companion for education and never did i miss a chance to go there.
Hostel Facilities
When i applied for hostel (boys) i stunned to find out i was on the waiting list of 250+. There are only two boys hostel in the premise, one for the NRI and one locally. The NRI hostel was costlier and cleaner and exclusively for NRIs, the local hostel was cheaper and messier and with a long waiting list. Eventually i stayed in a private hostel, and had to reach the college via share-autos. P.S I never got the call from hostel telling me there was vacancy for the whole three years of my course.
Alumni/Alumna
My first days of college was with scare of being picked by seniors. But to my amazement they were more like us. They were very friendly, and even after they graduated they occasionally visited us any time they came to the city. The Alumini network are spread across the diverse field of the industry that you could find PSGCASIANS everywhere.
Exam Structure
There are mainly three exams in every semester. Two intervals and one semester exam. The lab exam and the written exams never go head on head, the lab exams are usually completed well before the written exam which provides the students with apt time for preparing for the written exams.
Admission
You have the application form provided by the college after reviewing your application form, students are short-listed followed by a brief interview with the principal of the institution the confirmation of the admission will be confirmed after the interview process of the shortlisted students are complete. A compensation fee is to be paid via DD to the PSG trustee within a weeks time of the payment of the fee, the confirmation letter of your admission along with the commencement of classes will be delivered.
Faculty
The faculty is at par with any other good institutions. It was solely for the faculty that i wanted to join the college. On my brief three year tenure as a student in that college, more that subjects that are taught i learned many life lessons. i have never experienced a faculty as friendly and as cool as my professors there. Age was just numbers for us, both the professors and the students where learning new things day by day.
