Remarks
In 2016, I applied for the course of ME/ MAE at MAIT, HMR Institute of Technology & Mgmt and Dr Akhilesh Das Gupta Institute of Technology & Mgmt (formerly known as NIEC). MAIT and HMR were much farther from my home and NIEC was the best option, plus it was the best college for the mechanical courses at that time. No, I didn't avail any quota for the admission process but one should regularly check for daily updates and notices regarding verification processes, as I missed the document verification event. At that time, approx 1 Lac student gave the IPU CET exam and the admission process was held according to the rank acquired by the student. For best colleges of IPU for B.Tech courses like MAIT, MSIT, BVCE, NIEC, HMR... etc, a student needed to have a rank score ranging between 7000 to 25000. There were 3 online and 3 offline counselling rounds, depending upon the seats available. A student had to apply for the round and for the colleges & courses according to their preference.
Course Curriculum Overview
I had already been decided to be a mechanical engineer because of my love for machines and especially for cars/automobiles. During my college days, the student ratio was good and faculty members are still nice, helpful and well educated. But recently, after the merging of the IPU CET & JEE Mains exam, student strength is low in IP colleges. Teachers of NIEC were and still are very qualified and helpful in nature. They know how to teach a student and never ignore a student who is in some tough situations in his/her life. The teaching methods included academic classes and practical sessions. Students may also join certain societies as per their interests. A year was divided into two semesters, but subjects never repeated themselves and there were approx 6 to 7 subjects in each semester. Students needed to prepare those subjects for Half-yearly semester exams. Before the semester exams, 2 sessional unit tests were also included. Exams were not much hard but a student must be prepared.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for the placement process once they get in the second year. companies like Infosys, oppo, google, Microsoft etc, land on the campus to offer good carrier opportunities to the students. Salary packages offered by these companies generally vary from 3 LPA to 6 LPA for freshers. Students from IT, CS, ECE and EEE usually get a placement from the campus but mechanical students do not have any better scope in this college.
Fees and Financial Aid
At the time of admission, students need to submit Rs 40,000 to the university and Rs 60,000 to the college. After the first year, the next 3 years fees are submitted to the college accounts department in a yearly pattern. There are generally no fees hikes, but if there is a fee hike, it will be a minimum increment. College allows the students to participate in different fairs like internship fairs, E-Cell fairs, etc, that are organised by the college itself.
Campus Life
Social life at NIEC is very healthy and good, students get a proper chance to make good & kind friends. The college conducts various events and those events are organised and managed by the E-Cell department of the society run by the college students themselves. Books and journals are also provided by the college at the beginning of each semester. Students have full access to the college library to complete their assignments and discuss the projects. The college also conducts annual sports and college events, where students can enjoy themselves with their friends and have a good time. Every student gets a proper chance to prove themselves in sports and other curriculum activities. The college has management groups like E-Cell, mechanical societies like BAJA, SUPRA, GO-KART, etc, robotics society, art and dance society for art lovers.
Other Applied Colleges
Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology | Mechanical & Automation
It was very far away from my home and it took me approx 2 hrs to reach there, so that was the reason
HMR Institute of Technology and Management | Mechanical & Automation
The college location was not good and it was much farther from my home, when even compared to MAIT.
