SVNIT was a mistake

Applied for different NITS but attended SVNIT because it is close to my home. Availed SC quota, the cutoff was much less Minimum marks in 12 boards are 65% and jee score cutoff is different for each year. We had to go to the college to provide documents and confirm admission.

Chemical engineering has good job opportunities in Gujarat. There are more than enough faculties for each subject, Some subjects had 2 faculties. Faculties were fairly qualified. Most of them were PhDs. Exams were always conducted on fixed time which was provided at the beginning of the semester. Exams are not difficult to pass, but scoring well is a little hard

Internships are provided by outside companies after interviews and tests. Most of them include working at a Chemical plant. Most of the students didn't get internships due to the pandemic. I am one of them. The institute had refused to give NOCs for physical internships only online were allowed.

Companies take students from the third year as interns and may provide jobs depending on performance. Jobs are provided directly to students from the 4th year after the placement process. In Chemical Engineering maximum package last year was 15 lpa and the minimum was 4 lpa. 75-80% are placed in Chemical Engineering. I will probably take a job with a slim chance at masters.

There has been no fee hike in the three years I have been at the college. The cost is fairly high. I availed Top class SC central scholarship which is provided to the top 10 JEE scorers. College fees are free for SC but have to pay hostel fees.

SPARSH is the annual techno cultural fest. It is conducted in the first week of March. Most of the books are available at the library, we have a huge library. Classes have projectors and fans. There are no ACs in classes. Cricket tournaments are held every year in which faculties and students both participate. We have a gym, basketball courts, football ground, cricket ground, tennis and badminton courts. There are some indoor games at the hostel Most of the clubs are run by students. Drishti deals with technical objects like robots. Raag is for music.

Rooms have cupboards, fans, wifi, bed. Hot water is available at all times in the bathroom. Food is ok, but people get bored with it very soon. For the first year, we have to apply for a room physically when confirming the admission. After that admission is done online. It is affordable, the price is 39500 for one semester and during the second semester, 16500 as mess fees is to be paid.
