Exposure and Learning

PG course may offer a lot of exposure, but a good balance is needed on curriculum as well.

Had given both CAT as well as Maharashtra level CET exam. Had got 99.67 percentile in CET through which i got admission into the Masters course of Welingkar. This is a University of Mumbai degree course. Welingkar has a good campus and very good in-house as well as visiting faculty.

Curriculum is designed well with common courses in the first year and HR elective specific ones in the second year. Electives like Finance, Costing, Operations, HR, Marketing etc were covered in the first year. Second year was in detail about HR - Organization Design, Training, Compensation etc.

There are companies from various sectors that come for internship. Typical stipend offered is between 10-20 k per month for summer internships. There are a few companies who do not offer stipend but most mid and large sized companies who prefer to pick good candidates offer between 10-20k stipend.

Approximately 80% of the batch is placed through campus placements. There are many good companies like Infosys, Cerebrus etc that come before the placements and pick good students. Companies like mahindra also come during first week to pick up students. Banks hire in large numbers as well. Typical package during our batch was between 5L to 12L.

There are events that offer exposure. Many industry speakers come to college. There are round table conferences for various functions. Especially HR roundtable conference offers a lot of exposure in terms of managing events as many industry experts attend.

Fee structure is quite feasible. cant tell whether the structure has changed right now, however during my batch, the MMS fees was a little less than the PG fees.

Debates were held during our batch by industry, Mahindra had held small competitions and orientation sessions on automobile industry before the placements. We had a newsletter group. Placement council, management council.

Not sure about hostel. The canteen food used to be decent. Many students frequent the mess for breakfast and lunch.

Alumni is quite influential. we have alumni meets every year towards november or december. I have attended previous alumni meets and it is a good way to network and keep in touch with various members.

There are semester exams for MMS and trimester exams for PG courses. Exams are managed well and not too hectic. One exam per day.

Welingkar has good in-house and visiting faculty. Visiting faculty are all industry experts with a rich experience in corporate and consulting. All faculty is very supportive and teach through different methods including classroom and project based learni
