REVIEW- [GLSIBA], Ahmedabad

I have applied to 2-3 colleges i,e. LJ Institute of Business Administration, Asia Pacific Institute of Business Administration, and KK Shastri. I got admission to LJ but I didn't choose it was quite far from my home and not heard good reviews also from some of my relative's kids. I have not available any quota and the admission criteria in GLS was 67? above in 12th. My admission process was a bit tricky as I reached the college when admissions are almost full but thanks to the faculty of the college Dr. Tejal Jani. She was great and helped me a lot in getting admission as she said that she saw potential in me after seeing my past results. So all thanks to her to make it possible.

I chose BBA as I had an interest in business studies and I saw a lot of scope in it. I want to do my own business in the future and there was no better option than BBA to gain all the knowledge required to do so. The faculties of GLS were pretty amazing. All were knowledgeable and supportive. They helped me from my admission to my final viva. The total number of students in our batch was 250 around. All faculties were qualified from well-known institutes like HL and IIM. Their teaching methods were amazing too as they had great in-depth knowledge in all the topics which they wanted to discuss with the class. The term exams were good and easy to pass. The minimum passing marks were 24 out of 60 which was easy to get if you have attended the lectures well.

I have not done any internships so I have no idea about it but one of my friends has done an internship in the second year. The company name was phoenix and the stipend was 7000. I have done many projects in my college but the most important was the final one in the sixth sem as it was Grand Project related to research. We have done research on a particular topic and also included every minor and major detail related to that topic.

GLS offers in-college placements and there are very big companies like Godrej, TCS, Vodafone, ICICI, HDFC which come to hire. The packages offered by these companies range from 1.8 to 3 lacs. The highest package offered was 25000/month by Godrej during my placement. Students are eligible to sit in placements when they come in 3rd year and do not have any ATKTs. The percentage of students getting placements was 70-80%. My plan after getting a degree was to do a corporate job in some well-known company with a good package to start my career with a boost.

Fees hike in GLS is something that I don't like. As when I joined the college the fees per semester were 18500 and now the fee is 24500 something. The cost to study in GLS was not much as they provided online material for study in the student portal along with the lectures notes written in class. There were many job or internship opportunities in my 2nd year but due to personal reasons, I have not taken any.

GLS organizes an annual event every year named Image for internal students of the college as well as the students of different colleges to showcase their talents through different activities, events, etc. At the start of every year, they also organize an event named Anvesh for students to participate in different activities. The library of GLS is very big and there is a wide variety of books available to study and it's totally free too. Classrooms were something that I just can't forget about GLS. I mean they were pretty big and also covered by 4 Acs in each classroom. They have projectors too for teaching. GLS never shy away from getting students to participate in different activities so they also encourage students to take part in sports activites as well as extracurricular activities like dance, games, etc.
