My experience at IET DAVV

For admission into IET DAVV, I had given the MP PET back in 2012. I belong to the general category. I had given 3 colleges during my counselling process: SGSITS Indore, IET DAVV INDORE and RGPV Bhopal. These three happened to be the top universities at that time. I had a below 1200 rank in MP PET, which was considered very good at the time. I got into RGPV in the first round and I was quite happy with it, but I also had heard that IET DAVV had a great computer science department. IET DAVV was well known for its computer science while SGSITS was more known for Mechanical/Civil. Since I had an interest in Computer Science, I went ahead with IET DAVV.

The Computer Science department is currently known as the Computer Engineering department in IET DAVV. The course was very well structured with various subjects, which facilitated the students to pursue broader fields after the undergraduate degree. The first year of college had subjects ranging from chemistry to Engineering Drawing. The last 3 years were more computer-science oriented. We had subjects like Computer Graphics, Analysis and design of algorithms, Theory of computation and even Enterprise resource planning and Humanities. The teaching quality is really good and the teachers are always available either during office hours or through mail to answer student queries. The coursework mainly had the main exam towards the semester end and assignments throughout the semester. We also had 3 unit tests out of which the best of two were considered. The exams were fairly easy to pass, given all the assignments were submitted on time.

IET DAVV has a great Training and Placement Cell. Many companies, especially mass recruiters place a lot of students, and roughly 70-80 per cent of the students are placed. There were numerous companies that came around 2016 out of which Adobe had the highest package at 13 LPA. Some notable companies were Accenture, Amdocs, Capgemini, Adobe.

Currently, the cost of pursuing BE from IET DAVV is INR 1,14,000. There are scholarships in place for the reserved categories. The details of this can be referred to on the IET DAVV official website. The campus placements are really good in IET DAVV and I got placed in 5 multinational companies in my final year. The average CTC was 3.5 lac per annum.

IET DAVV has a lot of student clubs both social and technical and many extracurricular activities. There are various events like plantation drives etc organised by the college. The annual college fest is AAKSHANK and also a technical fest called INVENTO. The classrooms are comfortable and are digitally equipped, well-spaced. The library is well managed and you can almost all subject related material there. The library also has a reading space that is comfortable.

I opted for a private hostel as the college hostels fill up pretty quickly. I lived in the main region of Indore, which was 15 mins away from my college. The hostels in Indore are great and have security measures in place. Like other hostels, there may be a curfew after 9 PM and girls/boys aren't allowed to go out. The warden checks all rooms around 11 PM to check whether everyone is in the hostel before the gates are locked. The meal qualities differ in various hostels, but one plus point is that hostels mostly also provide a common cooking area so that girls can fix up their meals in case they don't like the food that day. If the food is perpetually bad, you can also opt for tiffin services that deliver foods up to 2 times a day.
