Entrance Preview
I gave JEE Mains, BITSAT, NISER, KVPY, and VITEEE entrance exams. According to my rank, I was getting a seat in a state govt. college but I was not interested because I needed exposure which leads me to chose vit. My rank in viteee was also good enough to get a seat in a mechanical branch which always fascinated me. So I joined VIT Vellore.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is based on exploring new things and it is a fully flexible credits system based (FFCS) course structure where you get to choose your own subjects in a semester. You can choose your own subjects but you have to complete the core subjects of your branch in 4 years to get a degree. The system is so flexible that you can choose your own slot timings and your own faculty.
Internships Opportunities
Honestly, I do not know about the stipends as I am studying in just my first year of B.tech. But I know that our college does provides internships in big and small companies with a handsome amount of stipend.
Placement Experience
VIT University has been consistently setting records of campus placements amongst private institutions in India. Producing graduates who are well equipped to handle the working norms of the industry and commerce in the public and the private sectors has been the primary aim of the university.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It is cheaper than many of the private colleges in the category. But it is way more expensive than the govt, colleges. So overall fees are high in vit because students getting lesser ranks are bound to join in category five which is nearly 25 lakhs for 4 years.
Fees and Financial Aid
Students scoring below 10000 ranks in VITEEE avail a scholarship of 50000 per year and Students scoring below 20000 ranks in VITEEE avail a scholarship of 25000 per year for a period of 4 years. The institute also provides student loans.
Campus Life
Campus life is very good. it has a high amount of diversity because of people from different parts of the country and different parts of the world study here. I do not know the exact gender ratio but there are 17 men's hostels and 5 girls' hostels. Culture is well maintained in VIT university and so is impartiality. there is no discrimination.
Exam Structure
Exams consist of two internals and one end term in every semester of 6 months in theory. And we have continuous lab tests on lab subjects. Sometimes it leaves us hectic but it is an important part of academics. Exams are frequent in engineering, That's how it is in vit.
Admission
I gave the VITEEE entrance exam. I got AIR-16199 rank and I got above 60 percent marks in physics, chemistry, and maths in the 12th boards which is the minimum requirement to study in vit. So when I went for counseling I got a seat in mechanical. I got a seat in category 1 itself with a scholarship of 25000 every year. Then a paid add of 71000 in the counseling. I paid the rest of the fees before joining.
Faculty
The faculty in VIT is really very qualified, friendly, and cooperative except for some. All faculties are well qualified, the maximum of them being PhDs graduated from NITs and IITs. Some faculties are rude, stubborn, and non-co-operatives but the overall faculty of VIT is very impressive.
