Life in Ravenshaw University

I had only applied for Ravenshaw University and since my 12th grade marks were exceeding the minimum criteria, I got selected. The admission process required us to produce our 12th and 10th mark sheets, behaviour certificate, provisional certificate and migration certificate.

The chose b.com because I was interested in the topics related to finance, management and accounting. The professor/faculties were very nice and had great knowledge about the course. It was very engaging as our assignment and projects were more of a practical nature and how we would deal with the business related issues. The faculty were mostly had done their B.ed. We had our exams in a timely manner which consisted of 1 internals and 1 main exam per semester basis.

Usually, students in the last year of their course are eligible for campus placements. Very renowned companies like Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, Deloitte etc have come for the placements. The highest package is 4 lakhs and the average package is 2.5 lakhs for a bachelor degree. I got hired through campus placement and currently, I'm working with the organisation.

Being a government university, they always tried to provide scholarships to students who got good ranks and additionally to students who need aid for their studies. A special scholarship was for students for Sc/St categories.

Our university is both into studies and extracurricular activities. We used to have an annually annual feast of different departments and hostels. Different competitions such as sports (badminton, chess, cricket, basketball ) and essays (Hindi, Oriya, English ) were conducted. We have two joint libraries in the university which have thousands of books including a variety of topics. Library card is issued to students, they can request for books from the library and have it for 3 months. The sitting facility is also very well accommodated within the library so students can sit inside and read the books.

Our university has separate hostels facility for boys and girls within the campus. Each room has separate beds, tables, fans, cupboards for students. 3 time meals facility is given to students which consist of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Annually a feast is conducted by each hostels for the boarders. The meal quality is good. Overall the facilities are up to mark for students. Whoever applying for any course in university can apply for hostel in the official site at the same time. Fee structure is different for each hostel depending on the gender.
