Various details about Government Polytechnic, Dhanbad

My rank in the Polytechnic entrance examination was 484 in all over Jharkhand and I was looking for a good college to pursue my Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. I searched on internet and talked to friends and relatives who knew about Diploma Colleges in Jharkhand and got to know about Government Polytechnic, Dhanbad and some others like GP Adityapur which is too far from my home, that's why I chose to go with GP Dhanbad. I had made my Caste certificate from BDO in case if I couldn't got the required seat I would have tried with reservation quota but it didn't happened and I got my seat with General category. Ranks were based on the marks tha everyone scored in PECE held by JCECE. At the counselling centre, we have to pay for challan of 400 and seat allotment fee of 1000 then group of students were called inside according to their ranks and their documents verification took place after that they were given options from various colleges where seats were empty and they chose

I was curious about various mechanical machines and equipment, automobiles, how do they work, how are they made. That's why I chose to do a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. In our college, permanent teachers or lecturers are not sufficient so they run on part-time lecturers most of them are B.Tech holders or have completed just some years ago or fresh graduates. Internal examinations were held twice a semester. And the final exam held half-yearly. Questions are not much tough till 3rd Semester which held in January 2020, after that no one got chance to give board exams. Online teaching started and online internal examinations were taken.

In the final(third) year or final(6th) semester got a chance to give placement tests and interviews from various companies like L&T, Usha Martin, JSPL, Super Smelters, etc. Highest package ranges under 5Lakh and lowest is slightly higher than 1.2 Lakh. Placements depend upon students internal knowledge. So some year it's higher and some year it may be lower but not zero. I have my plans to get higher education.

Yearly the college fees including admission fee, registration fee and examination fee are not more than 6000. And students who came from SC, ST, OBC category got assistance from eKlayan scholarship which is filled once a year. And students get almost their College expenditure.

It's that part which I hate about this college, No college fest, No tech fest, and even No compounded campus. The library is the very old type and most of the time required books are not available and if it was available it was very old. Old benches and desks are still in the drawing classroom, rest has got new. No sports or extracurricular activities are done on Campus. No social groups, clubs, or websites are available in College except a Student Union.
