Information about my college and Hostel Life

My rank was 397 in the Polytechnic entrance examination which was conducted by Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination. And I wanted to take admission in some of the best colleges to do my Diploma. And fortunately I had option to do my Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from GP Dhanbad. I went for my counseling to Namkum, Ranchi and there I was charged 400 for challan and 1000 for seat allocation.

Faculties in Government Polytechnic Dhanbad are enough to take regular classes including Part-Time Lecturers as Permanent teachers are not sufficient. Most of Part Time Lecturers are B.Tech holders and pursuing their M.Tech and few have done their M.Tech. Internal assessment are based on class tests held twice a semester.

From semester 6th students are eligible to appear in placements examination and interviews. Several Companies come to our college like L&T, Jindal Steel Power Limited, Jindal Steel Works, Usha Martin, etc. Several students get placement who have had taken their Branch papers more seriously and have well prepared for the interview.

There were no fee hikes during my session and yearly the college fees goes upto 6000 to 7000 rupees per year. And I have got a scholarship which is being filled once a year which is about 7000 almost covering the College fee expenses. No jobs are available on campus but students can do part-time in small shops around the college.

The hostel was not in condition when I took admission to college, it was getting refurbished. In my 2nd year, I took a hostel and opted to live a Hosteler life. We had a private Mess as we were not provided mess from College. There was no annual function held in College. And no co-curricular activities were held on Campus except some Occasional ones.

Hostel rooms are big enough to hold two to three students. We have fans and cemented beds in our Hostel rooms electricity was good but sometimes water facility would have a problem. We rented a private mess for the whole hostel as we were not provided by the College who would come and cook in Hostel 3 times a day and charges upto 1800 a month. The meal was good. We can apply for Hostel by writing an application.
