Remarks
The college has a rich pedigree. However, it needs to keep with the changing times.
Entrance Preview
Karnataka CET99.5 percentileThe college is known for its encouraging holistic and all round development.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is jaded. It hasn't kept up with the developments in the modern world and does not equip the students with adequate knowledge and understanding to go out into the the corporate scenario. Also, the curriculum is weighed heavily in terms of courses based on core engineering and does not incorporate any soft skills development.
Internships Opportunities
The college does not facilitate internships via a formal platform. However, the students are free to look for internships on their own.
Placement Experience
The location advantage of the college being located in Bangalore pays off here. A multitude of technology companies come to hire students during their final year. Companies such as Microsoft, Adobe, Texas Instruments, Robert Bosch, Mu Sigma, Thought works hired in large numbers
College Events
Utsav is the biggest college cultural fest in Bangalore. It is a massive celebration and for 3 days of the year the campus is the happiest place in the city. The showcase of the fest is the Hip Hop dance battle called Turtle which has attracted participants from Netherlands as well.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is as per the regulations of the Karnataka government as the some of the departments are government aided. The students who come through the COMEDK entrance pay higher fees to the tune of Rs. 1.5 lakh per annum. Students who come through the management quota have a higher fee structure.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes. Branch toppers from each department were awarded annual scholarships. There were loan arrangements made for students from backward classes and on economic factors
Campus Life
Extra curricular activities were encouraged heavily. The college recognised that participation in various competitions led to the overall development of the student in terms of personality, communication skills, leadership, organisational and operational abilities.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are nice. There are co-ed hostels for the NRI/International students. The mess food is good. Even day scholars would go to the mess to eat. The hostel capacity was less and often some students had to find accommodation in nearby paying guests.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors were, in general, helpful. They would offer advice and suggestions whenever approached. Having been established in 1945, the college has a strong and vast alumni network across different countries of the world.
Exam Structure
The exam structure is a mixture of quizzes, internal tests and a final exam. The quizzes and internals form 50 percent of the total weightage. Practical labs are included in the internal marks part. The emphasis needs to be more on the practical exposure and projects instead of theoretical exams.
Faculty
The faculty is both knowledgeable and experienced. However, they get stuck in the nitty gritty of the archaic curriculum and the rote based learning which ails the Indian education system. The emphasis should be more on empowering students in understanding and appreciating the different technical aspects.
