Pratyush Mondal's Review On Burdwan Raj College, Bardhaman

Admission to this college is particularly based on merit.Students need to fill up forms entering their marks of class 10 and 12 , merit list is made taking the average of sum of marks of these classes and while summing up the marks for the opted subject is doubled up to the summed total. I opted for this particular college because Raj College stands for heritage and is one of the oldest colleges of Burdwan.

I don't have much knowledge about this as internships but heard that some BPOs come over for spot campusing that too not regularly.

Some companies come up for campusing who are not that big to provide bundles to aspiring students hunting for jobs.Exact companies I can't mention as am out of information on this matter because our department hasn't yet welcomed any campusing or job opportunities in the last three years of my college tenure.

Events celebrated in the college are Saraswati Puja-Held by the college union group where mass gathering takes place and students all over the Burdwan visit the college. College Freshers-Set up by the College Union to welcome the new fresher students each year celebrated at Boys Common Room.

Fee structure is very affordable and cheap as compared to the facilities provided by the college to the students.Ranging from 500-700 rupees (approx) which differs course wise and is taken half yearly basis.Students doesn't face the fees burden at all as the fees if seen on a monthly mode it's approximately 50-100 rupees per month.

Scholarships are provided for the students below the poverty line , to those belonging to the minority community and also to the girl child with some standard government rules and regulations.

Campus life is lively and friendly with huge gardens and playground for a greener and natural environment.Students studying in the college is now approximately 7k. Secular culture exists among all the fellow pupils of the college I.e no gender or racist bias is ever noticed or entertained and students of several economic condition and from various religious sects come together in the college.

Exams are taken by the University of Burdwan on guest centre.And our college do hosts exams where students of other colleges appear.Hons examinations are held for hours time period which is an objective/subjective written examination. Lengthy examination papers and four hour time leaves the students somewhat hectic.

Faculty is average as compared to that needed for running a department of three year degree course. In my department we have only two permanent teachers and rest four of them are guest lecturers who are sometimes not at all fit for lecturing college classes and so students suffer.
