I took VITEE and I scored a 546. I opted for this VIT as they are one of the best private colleges for engineering in India.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum at VIT is very well-tailored. It starts with the basics in sem1 and sem2 and gradually proceeds to the advanced level. You are also taught a foreign language in sem1. Also, there are various management based courses that students can take later in 3rd year. It helps those who plan to opt for an MBA in the future.
Internships Opportunities
No, no internships provided. I graduated in 2014, at least till then, there were no internships provided. In the final sem, for their final projects, students usually head out of VIT for internships.
Placement Experience
The placement and job scenario is really good at VIT. At least for CS. VIT has 100% placement and every single student gets a job. The best of the best IT firms come to the campus. Not just that, a lot of consulting firms come too. Any of them, along with giving a full-time job, offer an internship as well.
College Events
VIT has mainly two fests, one cultural and one technical. People from all across the country come to VIT during this time. Apart from this, every festival is celebrated and other big events like matches, elections are also given importance. Apart from this, there are a variety of events happening on the campus every day.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college offers scholarships as well as loans. I did not get/take any of them, therefore it's a little hard for me to comment on this topic. But I was aware of students who were on scholarship and got free books and other facilities from college. They were called STAR students. Also, there were others who had taken loans.
Campus Life
The gender ratio is VIT is good compared to other engineering colleges. 40:60 ratio. There are students from all parts of the world. You will come across Chinese, Korean, Singaporean, American, European, and other students. The diversity is amazing. In fact, we also had a few faculty members that were from other countries. The extra-curricular are amazing and enjoyable.
Admission
After getting shortlisted on the basis of the VITEE score, I was asked to come down to VIT, Vellore campus. There, counseling was done on a merit basis. Students were given the branch of their choice based on their ranks and the availability of seats. As I observed, mechanical seats were the first ones to be filled, Computer science and then Information technology.
Faculty
Faculty depends from subject to subject. I would say 50% are good, 30% are average and 20% are below average. All of them give slides to study from and also suggest books for the subject. But, only almost half of them are good at teaching and explaining the concepts properly in the class.
