Kiranlal's Review On SASTRA University, Thanjavur

JEE main is the entrance exam through which you can enter this university. My JEE marks are 113 and this is not enough to enter NITs and thus I decided to enter SASTRA , which provides a good standard of education.

A student undergoes different variety of subject right from the first year. The credits for these subjects are given according to their importance in research and the related degree. The credits range from 1-5, where 1 is for least important subject and 5 is for mist important, and the grades will range in the same way.

Yes , the stipend will differ from one company to other.(Rs.5000-Rs.35000) per month. The companies provides intenship mainly during the 8th semester and at some case during the 6th semester.

Our college has a vast opportunities to get placed in campus both in IT sectors and core sectors. The avg annual salary here is 4.2 lakh per annum. The max salary of 21 lakhs per annum is provided and more than 95% of the students get placed in campus. The college has a very good partnership with mass recruiters who reduce the burden of students to get placed.

A large number of cultural and technical events take place each year in the University. All are of good standard to develop and exhibit our skills. The main cultural fest is kuruksastra and the main technical fest is daksh. The main intra college sport event is carpedium.

The fees of SASTRA university is affordable for a middle class family on compared with other deemed university. The tuition fees per sem is Rs 55,000. Other than this the hostel fees is Rs.8000 per year and the mess fees will be approximately around Rs.3000 per month.

A large number of scholarships are provided by the college. Dean's merit list of Rs.18,000 for students in the top 10 of their respective departments and Rs.9000 for the top 30 of same category.

The campus is approximately of 90 acres containing 8500 Bachelor degree students including all 4 years. The campus life is very good as all the basic amenities are at a reachable distance. The religion here is though diversed,the institution mainly concentrates in Hindu festivals to be celebrated.

The hostel fees and the mess fees are mentioned in the previous section. The quality of food is really good at a affordable price and all foods in mess are unlimited. The mess food is of a large variety. The hostel rooms are small but compatible.

3 CIA exams will be conducted in equal intervals for a sem. The best 2 will be considered and this will be for 40 marks .10 marks for seminar/ assignment. 50 marks for end sem exam. Totally 100 The students getting 90-100% will get 10 points , 81-90 will get 9 points and so on.Using this SGPA is calculated and further CGPA is calculated by taking average of all semester SGPA.

The admission was based on 25% of higher secondary marks & 75% of JEE main marks. The JEE marks will be multipled with .75 and the higher secondary marks will be converted to percentile , which will be out of 100. That percentile will be multiplied with 25 and both will be added.

4 on 5 faculties have good knowledge on their respective subjects. The syllabus for the subjects are relevent and has significance in its field. Most of the faculties teach conceptually, which is a basic quality required for a engineer. The faculties are also ready to help students outside their classes is of great significance.
