A sneak-peak into CMR Institute of Technology.

I appeared for COMEDK . There are over 180 colleges in Karnataka under COMEDK. Qualified students are eligible to participate in the counselling process. The counselling process begins with verification of documents. If the documents are verified successfully students can appear for round one. There are two and sometimes three rounds of counselling held. In the counselling process the students are given an opportunity to select a college available on the basis of one's marks and rank and quota. Under general merit quota , the cut off rank for CMR college was 9000. This was the best college I could opt for. Also got to know about this college from alumni students and acquaintances. The admission process included verification of documents followed by registration.

The course that I have opted for is Computer Science and Engineering. I have been learning programming since my school . It fascinates me and keeps me going. Hence I've chosen CSE as my core branch. The faculty student ratio is approximately 1:15. The teachers are very humble and helpful with a very vast knowledge in their respective subjects. They always encourage us to ask doubts. They are very supportive even during the pandemic situation. The classes were interactive, they gave regular assignments to keep a track of our progress. We have two semesters every year. Our college is affiliated to VTU. We have three internal assessment tests and semester exams are conducted by VTU.Apart from these exams we also have programming tests, GATE pattern exams . It is not very difficult to pass in these exams but they are challenging as well . Moreover the teachers make us practice questions for internal as well as external exams. Hence the overall results are quite satisfying.

An exclusive internship cell was established by CMR Institute of Technology. The purpose of this cell is to assist the students in finding quality national and international internship opportunities. It is mandatory for all students to complete internships without which he/she will not be eligible for award of degree. the minimum duration of an internship must be 4 weeks. Every student has to do a mini-project each semester under the guidance of a teacher. Marks are awarded to the students and prizes are given to the winners.

There is an exclusive placement cell established in CMR Institute of technology . The students are given TYL(Tie Your Laces) training from first semester) that includes both technical and non-technical training. The students are eligible for placements from 7th semester. Our college students got placed in several companies. About 70 companies visited our college last year including Bosch, ITC Infotech, TCS, Wipro, Uber, HDFC bank, Paytm, VM Ware, Delloite and so on. Average salary package is around 5.58 LPA and the highest salary package is 23.5 LPA. Decent number of students get placed every year. The placement percentage is increasing every year with good packages. My goal is to get a good job with a decent salary package.

The fee structure is different for different programs. For COMEDK the fee structure is approximately two lakhs fifty thousand. For CET it is Fifty eight thousand and thirty thousand is the college fee. VTU provides various scholarship programs for students especially for the students with reservation. A scholarship of eighteen thousand is awarded. We are kept informed about internships and links are shared so that we can apply. There is also a placement cell in our college.

Two annual fests are conducted every year. CULTURA in the month of march and AURA in the month of October. There are several hackathons conducted in different programming languages like C++, Java,Python and so on in the month of July. The college campus also has a central library. The students can utilize the library services and facilities. There are several computers installed in the library with wifi connection. All sorts of books related to academics are available and can be issued by the students. Journals, newspapers are also made available for the students. The classrooms are installed with smart board and projector. All the computer labs are air conditioned. Various sports like Basketball, Badminton, Football, Volleyball, Hockey and so on are Encouraged by the college . Our college also conducts SPARDHA an inter college sports tournament. There are several technical clubs like Codechef, Developers Students club and so on and non-technical clubs like Minerva, Dance and Music.
