Entrance Preview
I took CET exams for entrance and secured 981st rank. I heard read lot of good reviews about the college and hence decided to join RVCE. Since I was a kid, I always wanted to design a car and hence took up Mechanical Engineering.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was above average. But the options in extra curricular activities more than made up for the curriculum. There were decent number of electives offered from 6th Semester onwards.
Internships Opportunities
The college did not provide any internships. But if the students were interested, faculty helped us find internships and projects. The stipends were very limited. However, for the final year project the college encouraged us to do projects in the industry. The faculty helped us find projects thru their contacts.
Placement Experience
The placements were very good in our college. There were only 2 people out of 150 students (in mechanical) who did not get jobs from campus. Of course few of the students chose to stay out of placements as they were heading for higher studies. For mechanical, there were lot of companies like L&T, TVS, Ashok Leyland visited our campus. The salaries offered was between 2.4 to 4.5 lakhs per annum.
College Events
We had tech and cultural fests every alternate years. Along with that we had department level fest once in two years. The fest were pretty big and students from other colleges used to attend these fests. All of us were given opportunity to work in different dept of organising these fests which gave us lot of exposure.
Fee Structure And Facilities
There were three kinds of fees structure. About 10% of the students got merit seat. The fees in merit category was about Rs. 10,000. The payment seats were for about 60% of the seats and the fees was around Rs. 45,000. The rest was thru the college and management quota and I am not aware of the fees structure for them.
Campus Life
Campus life was fun with lot of diversity. In mechanical like in any other college had a very bad gender ratio. There were lot of extracurricular activities. There was atleast one which each student would like. There were teams building racing car, off road car, UAV, etc.
Exam Structure
Exams were strict and corrections too were very strict. However, the exams never felt hectic. There were gaps between each internals and lab exams. The labs were lot of fun. Most of the equipment's were well kept. Labs were always the best part of my college days.
Admission
I got admitted to RV thru CET counselling. The forms for the CET exams were issued in college. The counselling was done in a very professional manner. We were called to counselling in order of our ranks and were given a choice to select the college and branch of our choice.
Faculty
We had some faculty who were just amazing. Their knowledge was commendable and they used to come down to the level of students and explain. Some of the lecturers had field experience in the field they teach which helped us gain some knowledge which would not be available in books. But unfortunately we also had few faculty who were way below par.
