Remarks
I applied for several colleges like Bethune college, Jaipuria college, St. Xaviers College but I chose Asutosh College because it provided the honours course on my desire subject. During the admission, I availed SC quota. The admission criteria during my admission for my programme was 55% in 10+2 standard. The admission process was pretty smooth as the bank in which the admission fees should be submitted was pretty close to the college and the counselling process was also very smooth as the faculty of the Geology Dept. was very humble and helpful.
Course Curriculum Overview
I was very fond of geography and I availed pure science course after 10th std. that's why I chose this course. The faculty: student ratio was about 1:5. Qualification of the faculty was MSc and PhD from eminent institutes and the teaching method was very helpful for all of them. The exam routine was decided by Calcutta University every semester. the semesters were taken timely before the pandemic but after the covid breakout, it got a little bit late managing the online semester. The difficulty of each semester depended on the individual papers.
Internships Opportunities
It is a college which offers general courses and honours courses, Courses like engineering or technical courses was not provided in this college. that's why the placement of main projects are not highlighted by the college. Though it provides MSc and PhD courses on various subjects. I've not personally attained an internship given by the college.
Fees and Financial Aid
In my course, the fees were not very high but in other courses like microbiology, the fees were very high. Our college did not provide any special scholarship, but it supports other scholarships provided by the government.
Campus Life
Our college holds a lot of fests like Uddan which include a lot of mini fests. The library was approachable and has an environment to read books. The college holds a lot of sports competitions and cultural Intra college and intercollege competitions. It provides online library access for students.
