NIT Jamshedpur Review during the COVID-19

I joined my college during the Pandemic. The whole admission process was online, Never visited the college till now ( currently in the 3rd sem). The process was quite simple. You just have to pay your fees and wait for the email. NIT Jamshedpur and ECE was my choice, not luck. Maybe if this pandemic didn't take place, if JEE didn't get postponed I might have got a seat in IIT. Out of 365 days, for 4-5 days I still feel regret. Although my college is awesome. The Placement is awesome. And the professors this semester are also awesome. But it's hard to concentrate in online mode.

I was always an Electronics Enthusiast. From my childhood, I loved to explore electronics gadgets and circuits. I am glad that I found my passion at a very young age. When it came to choosing my branch I had no doubt. I gave preference to ECE in all colleges. Luckily both my college and branch was of my choice. There are sufficient faculty. In some subjects like chemistry, multiple professors take classes. They try their best to deliver their knowledge. Yes, sometimes there are problems. But there is no place where you won't be facing any problem! Most of the professors are from IITs, NITs and other tier-1 colleges with great experience and research backgrounds. There are mainly two exams in each semester known as mid sem and endsem along with Viva and lab.

Since I am a 2nd year student I have not come across many internship opportunities but according to my seniors, the college is full of many internship opportunities with a decent stipend. Placement Cell helps us with the internships. Many students apply for their internships on their own. And most of the students in my department get a decent opportunity with a decent stipend.

In 2021, 96% of students got placed from my ECE department, i.e., out of 78 students 75 got placed. The highest package offered was 30 LPA. The mean package offered to the top 50% of students was 16LPA, and the mean package was 12LPA. Most placements were not in core but IT. All the information I have provided here are from the official source. Some of the recruiters were JusPay, PayTM, Ola, Hitachi, Oyo, One Plus, TCS, Oracle, Vedanta, etc. I am more interested in core electronics jobs. After working for few years to save some money and get some experience I would like to start my own company. And I hope that one day I become the founder of a company that revolutionizes the Electronics Manufacturing industry in India.

The fees is little high as compared to few years back. The total fees is 104000 per semester ( Tuition Fees- 62500; Institute Fee- 25500; Hostel and Mess- 16000). For students with family income below 5L provision for fee remission is also there in which full fees get remitted if family income is less than 1 Lakh and 2/3 fees get remitted if family income is less than 5 Lakh. You can also avail various Scholarship under Central and State Government, All details of scholarship is provided on the official website.

The Culfest is our Cultural fest and Techfest is our technical fests. Both of these are absolutely amazing. They are usually conducted between November- January. Although due to pandemics I have not seen any of those during this time. Although I have seen the preparation and the lights and the vibes are superb. Our Library is well equipped. I bet you won't be able to find any topic missing from our library. We also have a computer centre with very high speed internet. The new lecture hall in our college is now ready "Diamond Jublii Lecture Hall". It is well equipped with all the modern gadgets. Since this is a government college the labs and lecture halls are well equipped!

The boy's hostel is new and is modern although the girl hostel is old. It has been renovated but the capacity and number of buildings are still the same. The Boys hostel are well new and have a great interior. The rooms are not very big. You might have to adjust a little bit but all the basic facilities are there. The mess food completely depends on your mood. If you have a great mood the food also tastes good. But on the contrary, if you have a terrible day the food also tastes the same. Although there are many places in Jamshedpur where you can explore different kinds of food. The hostels are super affordable and are compulsory to join. The registration process is quite simple and will be taken care of once you reach the campus.
