Remarks
St. Xavier's College, Scottish Church College, Biswabharati, Vivekananda College, Andrews College, Bongobasi college, Surendranagar college, Maula Azad College. I opted for VC because that was the best among which I qualified. And No I didn't apply any Quota during admission. I had just cleared my High School so age was not a thing to worry about back then. There was no admission test or something like that. We were selected based on our Merit score, which was calculated by our HS marks. The application for admission was totally online. After getting the green light from the merit list, the admission fees had to be cleared. Then we had to show up at the college with some Proof Of Residence, Government issued ID, HS mark sheet and yadda Yadda Yadda documents. And yeah, we also had to submit an Anti Ragging Form, cause you know Ragging is bad.
Course Curriculum Overview
To be honest, I happened to watch the Nat Geo Tv series "Genius", which was basically a biography of Albert Einstein, only in moving pictures. The show charged me to learn the basics of Physics, so yeah that's how. It's 0.4:1 precisely. Teachers and Staff are very nice to you. Really helpful Term exams or more precisely Semester exams were not conducted by the college, but rather by the university, The University of Calcutta in our case. And yeah it arrived when it's supposed to ( until Covid hit us). And now they're conducting exams online almost every after four months.
Fees and Financial Aid
Notice arrives saying the last date of fees submission. We wait for that day and at the eleventh hour, bam! fees submitted. At least I did that. This is the story for every semester. I do know that some of my batchmates have received scholarships. But I was mostly ignorant about these thingamajigs. We're in a core science degree course. We don't have much flexibility about career options. Either you pursue the Teaching line or continue studying Physics to the arse end of time.
Campus Life
I have experienced only a single College Social in my first semester. All thanks to Covid. But I've heard that they used to organise this kind of gargantuous social once in every 2 years. To the best of my belief, the Library is well maintained. I'm not too much into libraries. The college building is pretty old. Not be revamped for ages. Still uses old-school Blackboards. Sitting benches are not of great quality. The only existence of the 21st century is the Projector that hangs from the ceiling. Though I have never seen it working. Not because it's faulty, but because of covid( it was used for higher semesters) Annual Sports Competition was organised. Pretty basis. Good thing is that no political influence was present at the campus premises. Our department often arranged some contests like " Short Film", " Photography", " Painting" and stuff like that
