Remarks
I applied for all the colleges affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University by giving the competitive exam called IPU CET. After shortlisting the best college out of the one's allotted to me and qualifying the minimum eligibility of rank for the general category, I went to the administrative office with all the basic documents required like both my mark sheets, transfer certificate as I was from outside Delhi, character certificate and a Demand draft, two passports sized photographs. The whole process was quite sorted, I was made to sign in 2-3 places, submit the photocopy of the original documents and the DD. After which I filled the form for issuing identity and library cards plus an anti-ragging form. The only thing is IP University is quite particular about the necessary documents, if one is not able to render it at the right time, their admission might be delayed or sometimes cancelled.
Course Curriculum Overview
Today's world cannot exist without the knowledge of computers. It's a science one cannot afford to ignore. Therefore, seeing the opportunities it might provide ahead in life, I chose this course. Jagan institute, Rohini is one of the best ranking colleges in IP for this course, the management staff is quite knowledgeable and works their level best with as much individual attention as is possible. We have a huge highly qualified staff that could manage a class of 60 very easily and for the semester with electives, the strength further reduces hence more and more teacher- student interaction. There are many presentations, assignments, internal assessments and whatnot but it's all about honing one's skills, right? Hence a necessary evil for students especially keeping in view future endeavours. Moreover, it's not too difficult dodging them (if you know what I mean, *wink-wink*) because marks are given in abundance in IP.
Placement Experience
There was a lot of placement opportunity for the students. If one was willing and an opportunist he could grab hefty packages from great MNC's. The students become eligible for placements from the third year. The top companies which came were Infosys, Wipro, TCS and the incredible thing was that whosoever applied for the jobs, got placed somehow. at least from my batch, no matter what big or small position.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is quite high compared to the government universities like DU, JNU, Jamia or even Ambedkar. But I guess quality education is provided here at IP at that cost especially if one observes the professional courses like BBA, BCA etc which not everybody is successful in doing from DU due to the lack of the availability of seats. At the time of admission, 40000 is to be submitted then and there, ie, online at the release of the cut off to seal your seat and the rest 40000 for the entire year is to be submitted at the time of admission and rendering the documents, in the form of a DD. There were different scholarships in the form of government aided, merit etc for all the students in general and financially weaker students in particular. But claiming it was quite hectic and tedious.
Campus Life
The campus life was average. The infrastructure wasn't great per se but basic amenities were there like a proper highly functional ventilated library, a small average playground, metro nearby at a walking distance, the classroom was air conditioned, the labs were good with proper functioning computers etc. Yet the drawback was that there were no societies like the rest of the colleges and only textbook knowledge was provided. To make up for this, the annual 3-day fest called verve was fantastic wherein stand up comedians, actors, singers were called to jam with the students. It was the only amazing thing about the social life of the college, I guess. Rest the small food joints, nearby to chill out were the only source of solace to the students.
