Entrance Preview
I appeared for CAT, XAT and SNAP examinations. I secured 85 percentile in CAT, 72 percentile in XAT and cleared the cutoff for few Symbiosis College as well. I opted for BIMTECH because of the reputation of the college. The college has a good reputation and has a faculty which has tremendous experience and knowledge. Also, the college has good infrastructure and provides a home-like environment.
Course Curriculum Overview
I was a part of their flagship program Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM). They offer 4 specialisations, Marketing, Finance, Human Resource and Operations. I joined Human Resource Course. Overall the curriculum was good but no choice was offered for electives. Electives were same for students doing the same specialisation.
Internships Opportunities
The college does provide placement assistance but generally, students make their own arrangements as everybody prefers to have it in their hometown. On an average, the stipend offered is Rs. 10000/- per month. Few of the companies which visited the campus for summer internships are, Jindal Steel and Power Limited, BHEL, IL&FS, Moser Baer . I do not remember the name of the Organisations which offered Internship.
Placement Experience
75% - 80% of the students were placed from the college. Few of the companies which visited for final placement are Barclays, TVS, Sutra Analytics, NM Tronics, TCS, Alankit, CSC, Deloitte, Axis Bank, Fusion Outsourcing, UFLEX, Drishti Soft, Whirlpool, Birlasoft, Wipro, Piaggio, American Expres, SRF limited, ITC hotels etc.
College Events
The college focuses on Technical as well as non-technical events and functions. There are various Committees, comprising of Students and Faculty. Cultural Conduit, Sports Conduit, Majlis (Debate & Theatre), Food Conduit , Phoneix (HR Committee), Bizmark (Marketing Committee), UFE (United Friends of Earth) and many others.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The tuition fee for the batch 2011- 2013 was Rs. 8,00,000 for two years and Hostel and Mess fees was around Rs. 2,40,000 for two years. The tuition fees is a little on the higher side, however, Hostel and Mess Fees is pretty decent as the facilities provided are good.
Fees and Financial Aid
The College provided Scholarship to top 3 scorers of trimester 3 (Not sure which trimester it was). Scholarship of Rs. 50,000/- was provided for the top scorer, Rs. 25,000 to 2nd and Rs. 12,500 to 3rd. I received Scholarship of Rs. 50,000. This was only one time in a span of 6 trimesters.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is not that strong. Though BIMTECH has an Alumni cell which focuses on building relation with alumni but the results are not that praiseworthy. The college needs to work on building strong alumni base as it is very beneficial for college to have a strong Alumni base.
Exam Structure
The college has trimester system so in all there are 6 trimesters in a span of two years. The curriculum is not so hectic but instead of trimester system if there would have been semester system then it would have been better as we as students would get time for in-depth studies.
Admission
I had filled the form even before the CAT results were out, The process of filling the admission form was all online. After the CAT results were declared, I got a call from the institute. The process started around 8 AM in the morning. After the registration, there was a brief presentation to provide students the insight of the college.
Faculty
The faculty is very knowledgeable. Many faculties have industry experience as well which provides an added advantage to students as students get an insight into industry practices as well. Out of the faculty of all streams, faculty of Marketing is the best.
