MBA at doms IIT madras

IIT madras as the name suggests is one of the most reputed colleges in the country,the placement statistics, the curriculum, the overall exposure and the credibility that i was going to get after pursuing MBA from department of management studies IIT madras was the reason i chose this college.For admission i had got a valid CAT score as well as a degree from a recognized university with more than 60% marks, but i was exempted from CAT score since my CGPA in my graduation was 8 in IIT delhi. Then i went for an interview with all the original certificates.The application fees i paid was Rs 1600.The admission process began after the CAT results were out that is starting February. I got to know about this college from its official website.

There were many take away's from the course like it gave me an optimal learning experience which enabled me to develop well rounded professional personality by engaging in a variety of constructive activities including taking courses on audit, going on field visits,participating in various management workshops and competitions, organizing special professional events and working on live business projects.The faculty ratio was 10:1. The qualification of faculty was Ph.d indian institute of science banglore, Ph.d university of madras,B.com university of madras,Ph.d indian institute of management banglore. The teaching methods included classroom teaching, case discussions, hands on management internship in industry and work project.The exams were at the end of the semester and were quite difficult to pass at times.

The stipend i got was with accenture of Rs 55,477 and the companies that offered internships were CAT,amazon, accenture,Dell,ford,daimler,kadamba,infocepts etc.I worked as a junior business analyst with accenture for a period of 6 months which was then converted into full time job in a campus placement.

The batch size in my term was 65 and 34 recruiters came for placements .The profiles offered were business analyst,business consultant,data analyst, IT consulant,digital marketing executive,product marketing executive,product development manager. The placement in my batch was 100% .34 companies participated with 22% pre-placement offers .The recruiters were amazon,, accenture,IBM, Dell, infosys,car wale,ford, tata etc. The highest package offered was 29.6 lakhs, the average package was 12.44 lakhs and the median salary was 12 lakhs. I am curretly working as a business analyst with accenture and want to continue in this company in future.

Rs 8 lakhs was the fess that i paid for two year management program.The scholarship i was given was Rs 25000 per year depending upon my CGPA which was above 8 in last semester.The stipend i was offered was Rs 55,477 by accenture and the job i got was with a pay package of Rs 14 lakhs per annum with accenture.

IIT madras has a beautiful campus, the mighty systems lab was the central adda where i gathered with my friends for group assignments, watch movies,plan events etc.Whenever there used to be a festival we used to have a party of our own.The roads snaking through forests are full of jackals,deers,monkeys and blackbucks.The different clubs which i was part of was analytics club and operations club where i learned the subject beyond the classroom limit.The different clubs are writers bloc,quiz doms qwgc,mercado,HR-fohrum,fin-addicts,arthonomics,rhetorica,enigma etc. Sports and cultural committee was responsible for organizing department wide leagues, matches such as Doms premier league,Doms football league and badminton .The fest that takes place is business fest SAMANVAY where business brains of the country pitch their wit against each other in different fields of competence.

There are 15 boys hostels, i was the resident of narmada hostel, the facilities were 24 hours electricity and water supply, common room, TV rooms, mess,wi- fi connectivity,indoor games, medical facility. In room i was given a bed, mattress, cupboards, table, chair, curtains etc.The meal was served timely 3 times a day with evening tea and snacks, the quality of food was monitored by hostel warden and mess committee, overall it was healthy and hygienic.

There was not any GD since i was exempted from CAT score procedure, but i had to undergo an interview in which i was asked about the the companies going through telecom crises,the impact of demonetization and GST on indian economy, is NDA government authoritarian in its governance etc.The other admission process was for sponsored candidates with a minimum work experience of 2 years and recognized degree, valid CAT score,and an application from the employer, defence personnel were exempted from national level entrance test and have degree with 55% marks from recognised university,NRI's needed a valid GMAT score with recognised degree.
