SRIZA GHOSH's Review On SRMIST Delhi NCR Campus, Ghaziabad

I had appeared only for JEE, BITSAT and SRMEEE. Out of my available options SRM was the best college I could opt for. I consulted various online surveys and newspaper rankings and realised that SRM was the best with it's brand name all over India.

The course curriculum for first year covers most of the subject from diverse courses of engineering. Computer Science students are taught subjects such as electrical, biology, chemistry, graphics etc. Second year on wards course specific subjects are taught.

In the first and second year internship isn't provided but it is compulsory after the fourth semester. College provides internship opportunities.

The placements of all the students take place together in the main Chennai campus. There is no discrimination between the students at the time of placements. Students from Modinagar campus have an added advantage of attending placements at their own campus along with the main campus. Most of the students are recruited by mass recruiters such as Infosys, Cognizance, TCS etc.

Rubaroo is the cultural fest of our college. It is held on a grand scale with various renowned performers entertaining the students. Many competitions are held for students with diverse interests like literary, dramatics, dance, singing etc. Also each department has it's own tech fest or technical fest that is attended and organised by the students of that particular department.

Scholarships are offered to students from economically backward sections who have also scored a good GPA. Also loans are offered on the spot by some banks at the time of admission.

The campus life for girls in the first year is practically negligible due to the strict timings. Other than that, there is a football ground, tennis court, basket ball court in the college premises although gym facility is not available. There are students from diverse backgrounds although most of them are north Indian.

The hostel is pretty clean and well maintained. Although the timings for first year girls are very strict. There is table tennis equipment on each floor of the boys hostel. The mess is quite good with a homely feel. The quality of food is good. Wholesome and nutritious food is served.

The seniors are not allowed to interact with the first year students till the official freshers. After that interactions are allowed. The seniors are very helpful and willingly guide the juniors.

The exam structure is very hectic leaving very little time for self study. In each semester we have 3 cycle tests, one semester exam and 2 practical exams. The total weightage of internals is 50%. Lab classes for each subject are held for 2 hours every week.

When the notification was released for the form, I filled it in the online format. After that I chose a convenient date and exam slot. the exam was in online format with a very easy to use interface. After the results, I attended counselling in Chennai after which I chose Modinagar campus as this was closest to my home and rest everything was same.

The faculty of our college is well qualified. Most of the professors have a phd in their subjects. So they are well qualified. They seem interested in imparting their knowledge. The teachers adopt a very practical based approach in teaching. The professors stress on clearing concepts so that students do not face any issues in the subject.
