Course Curriculum Overview
The Course curriculum for Electronics and Communication engineering was very vast and interesting too. The first year second semester has two core papers which are digital electronics and a lab for the same. Starting from second year there are more core papers which are all very important as these are the basics for this branch of engineering.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, few companies like Bosch and IBM provide internships. The general stipend was around Rs.8000/per month for a period of 5 months in Bosch according to a classmate.
Placement Experience
The placement is excellent, almost the entire batch gets good offers though it depends entirely on the candidates if they take up the offers. Few core companies for our branch were Bosch, Econ Systems, IBM which followed the general placement criteria, assessment, aptitude tests, technical interviews, Topic discussions, HR interviews, telephonic interviews.
College Events
We had the technical fest called Digital for both inter and intra college students, workshops and also a whole inter college fest called KCT Yugam. It was held for three days with various contests and also a KCT sandhai for the young entrepreneurs of the MBA school of KCT.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure for the government quota Backward class and first generation graduate students is as low as Rs 45000 per year including the hostel fee. For the general government quota and management quota students it is higher as Rs. 80000 per year including the bus facilities, for hostel it goes upto 1 lakh a year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarship offered for all the First graduates based on the reservation system, no, inspite of good scores, was not able to avail any scholarship as i was a General category student and not a first graduate. Student Educational loans as offered by the banks are applicable.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes, they are very helpful and communicative about their class and placement experiences, special trainee arranged by them for the newcomers.
Exam Structure
The exams were quite competitive and left us drained, but the process ultimately made us competitive engineers by the end of our course as we hardly failed any technical round in the final year placements. Labs were totally equipped and safe to use inspite of handling the high voltage apparatuses as we had keen technicians who guided us well always.
Admission
This institution is very well known for its variety of courses, and as i wanted either ECE or Aeronautical engineering, this was my first option. Visited the college in person, got details regarding the courses and placement records. Filled out the application form that i procured from the main building office. Got admission through a simple interview and based on my 12th standard cutoff score.
Faculty
The wonderful set of professors who made the four years at KCT worthwhile are invaluable. The faculty of the ECE department in particular have brilliant understanding of the subjects that they are handling and also set competitive question papers which would be answerable if you had paid good attention in class and read through the concepts well.
