Course Curriculum Overview
If I talk about the course curriculum of UIET, I will say it's decent. In a semester, we have 1 end-sem exam (majors) of 50 marks, 2 mid-sem exams of 30 marks each (minors) out of which best of both is considered, and 20 marks are in hands of teachers (which includes attendance, class participation, quizzes, ppts, assignment etc). Here, you will get all kind of professors, some are excellent, some are good, teaches well and on the other hands, few are not so good. But still, no doubt, almost all professors have huge experience and holds Dr. before their name. You don't have to worry much about CGPA in UIET. Just a basic understanding of the subject and smartly studying a week before the exam can help you in getting good marks on the paper. 1st and 2nd semesters are the easiest ones, so there is an opportunity to score a good CGPA. Moreover, students even studying a night before exams manage to maintain a decent CGPA. It's just a matter of doing smart work, which you may learn too in UIET.
Internships Opportunities
For internship, only a few good companies visit campus for 3rd year students. Companies like Goldman Sachs and American Express visits campus for internships. This Year American Express came for pre-placement for 3rd year students. There is DIC in UIET, where various projects are going on, and students get offers to be part of the same. They offer projects in all the fields and also provides training and internships to students. Also, there is a club EDC, which launches an internship fair for students, in which various start-up companies tie up with them and offers paid internships to students.
Placement Experience
Placement opportunity in UIET is really good for branches like CSE, IT, ECE and EEE. Top product based companies visit the campus for recruitment which includes Amazon, Goldman Sachs, American Express, Deloitte, Airtel, Samsung, etc, the list goes on. Even students from here have also cracked placements in Google and Microsoft. For last year, the highest package was 40 LPA and the average package was 6.9 LPA. And it's increasing year by year. If you have done at least anything productive in your 4 years, you will end up getting placed. For Mech and BioTech, it is not so good, as very few core companies visit on campus, mostly IT companies come here, but still, companies all branches to sit on campus for placements. So students from these branches to gets placements (mostly in IT companies themselves). Some students also prepare for exams like GATE and CAT, and many of them score well. The trend for placements goes like this: CSE=IT>=ECE>EEE>>MECH=BIOTECH.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is not an issue in UIET. It revolves around 1 lac per year. Even less than that. You will be spending less than 4 lacs in completing your BTech. Still, if you come from an economically weaker section, you will get the scholarship, and your fees get deducted to a very less amount. you will also get financial assistance here. Hostel charges are also very less here. Coming to placements, it's really good for CSE, IT, ECE and EEE. If you have done at least anything productive in your 4 years, you will end up getting placed in a decent company with an excellent package. Top Recruiters like Amazon, American Express, Goldman Sachs, Samsung, Deloitte, Airtel etc, visits campus and offers placements and internships. Students from here also crack placements in Google and Microsoft. The highest package for last year was 40 LPA and the average Package was 6.9 LPA. And is continuously increasing year by year due to a strong alumni base working in top product based companies.
Campus Life
Life at UIET is amazing, as it's a part of Panjab University, which have a campus of 550 acres, one can imagine it is itself a kind of city. Even it has its own rose garden. There is StuC, the student's favourite place. A great diversity of students is seen here. Occasionally celebrations of festivals are happening on campus. UIET organises its own annual cultural fest "GOONJ", in which celebrities and singers visit the campus.
