Remarks
I have applied for Great Lakes, Chennai; ISM Dhanbad, and baby IIMs. I haven't attended other colleges since I was in confusion to go for this year or next year as I prefer offline classes compared to online. But after collecting data regarding the same, I opted for TAPMI. For tapmi admission, the cat percentile should be above 85% if you are a fresher. If you have work experience, then below 85% are also considered. In the application form, the important thing is SOP. I think screening is done at this level. So, we have to make sure that our SOP is unique. After selection, the next round will be GD. Our GD happened online for a group of 10 members. Our GD topic is National Education Policy 2020, which is a general topic. And after GD, you will be selected for a Personal Interview. Everything went cool for me. Panellists focused more on behaviour, strengths, weakness and work experience.
Course Curriculum Overview
My long term goal is to become an Entrepreneur. So, to understand business dynamics I have chosen General which covers all managerial areas like finance, marketing and HR. Our faculty follows case study teaching methods like Havard University. Faculty provides the opportunity to everyone to clear their doubts at any point in time even in the middle of class. By this two-way communication, we can understand things better. MBA itself is difficult compared to other courses. But in TAPMI, with a rigorous curriculum based on current Industry needs, helps us to face corporate challenges better. So, I think exams were not that difficult.
Internships Opportunities
TAPMI helps students to get Intership oppurtunities from beginning of 1st Term. For Internship or Job, the first thing that companies would come to know us by going through our resume. It acts like a first Impression. So, TAPMI starts the process by training students to build strong resume with third party resume Experts. They review every Individual resume and provide you feedback on the same. TAPMI students get Internship oppurtnities in all top MNC's in sectors like IT, FMCG, Banking Servies etc. Based on your interest and specialisation, students can choose their Internship role. For instance, marketing student will get oppurtunity to be marketing analyst in Live-Projects of the company.
Placement Experience
From the beginning of the first term, students are eligible for summer Internships, which may get converted to PPO. For the full placements procedure, students are eligible after completion of the first year with an above 5.0 GPA. Most of the companies from IT, FMCG, Consultancy and E-Commerce, Banking and Finance Service sectors have visited and had almost all the students have received offers. The highest package is 25.0 LPA and the average package is 11.6 LPA for general management specialisation.
Fees and Financial Aid
Since TAPMI is a top B-School, it's fees is high compared to tier-3 & tier-4 colleges. For our batch fee is somewhere around 16 to 18 lakhs. Yes, TAPMI provides various type of scholarships based on financial background of students. TAPMI students can also get Merit scholarships, Overall Excellence performance for outstanding performances. There are scholarships for excellence in each specialisations like Marketing, HR, Finance, and General.
Campus Life
There are 25+ clubs and committees, all are supervised by students under faculty guidance. There are thousands of books and journals accessible to all the students. In TAPMI, business magazines are provided to update students knowledge on the current business situations all over the world. There is a book club in which, they will launch a book each year written by alumni or faculty. In TAPMI, we can see many cricketers (including faculty). They also conduct cricket T20 matches between students and faculty. Since TAPMI, is a top B-School, though it is located in south India, it has students from all over India. So, we have various cultures and their respective cultural programmes and festivals celebrated on campus.
Hostel Facilities
TAPMI maintains a clean and hygienic environment in both hostel and college. There are 4 blocks of hostels for both boys and girls. Each room is shared by minimum 2 people and maximum 3 people. Meal quality is good. All varieties of south India and North India are available. TAPMI is located in Manipal, so I suggest to stay in college hostel as it saves time for us to focus on our priorities, instead of renting room in local area. As TAPMI hostels has got all facilities like healthy food, 24x7 canteen, Stationery and medical stores in the campus, fee is little high.
Interview Experience
After clearing the CAT score criteria, students have to clear three rounds including Group Discussion, English Proficiency Test and Personal Interview. For GD, students need to have updated knowledge on current affairs, general topics like Covid Impact on Education, National Education Policy etc., It was around for 10-15 minutes with 10 participants. Within a couple of days, students are allowed to take EPT, which tests the grammar, vocabulary and Situational behaviour of students. After a week of completion of GD and EPT, here comes the final round of Personal Interviews. In the personal interview, to me, there were 3 Panelists. They were really cool, and the interview has happened with casual discussions, nothing technical. Panellists asked questions about my work experience like the tough situation you faced, how you handled it, and 2 to 3 ethical dilemma questions.
