Life at Goa Institute of Management

Admission to GIM is based on the marks obtained in CAT/XAT/CMAT/GMAT. There is also an achiever's round where the student is given spot admission based on their performance in the Achiever's Round. The cut-off's were as follows: CAT-89%, XAT-82%,CMAT-98.5% for 2021.For the regular round, GIM had three components of the evaluation. Firstly it was a written ability test round, then we had the I-Talk which is basically an extempore, and the personal interaction round. The process was very smooth and the Adcom was very helpful at every stage.

The PGDM course is the flagship course of the Goa Institute of Management. Moreover pursuing a PGDM will give one more flexibility and choice as in the first year you will get the opportunity of studying all the subjects of MBA and then in the second year decide upon the majors and minors based on your interest. The faculty-student ratio here in GIM is 17:1 and all the faculties are super helpful and come with a huge knowledge base and industry experience. Learning never stops at GIM and the faculties make sure that happens with innumerable presentations and case studies we have to do as a part of the curriculum. We also get an opportunity to give our feedbacks at various steps which are also taken into consideration. Due to the ongoing pandemic although not every student was on campus so the exams were taken through online mode very smoothly and adequate measures were taken to refrain students from adopting unfair means.

The summer internship of the 2020-2022 batch saw an average stipend of 66,000 median stipends of 50,000 and highest for 1,70,000. The top recruiters were GEP, Arcesium, ITC ltd., BMW, Dalmia among others. The batch demographics for 2020-22 revealed that the gender ratio was 2:1 with 58% coming from an engineering background.

The final placement for the batch starts from the 4th term itself. Many students get PPO after their summer internships. For the 2019-2021 batch the average package was 10.71 LPA with the highest CTC of 25.6 LPA. For marketing 21.34lpa was the highest CTC and 11.11lpa was the average CTC. The highest CTC for finance was 25.6lpa and the average was 10.35lpa. The human resource had the highest CTC of 13lpa whereas the average was9.07lpa. Operations had the highest CTC as14.92lpa and an average of 10.89lpa. The top recruiters were Adani Wilmar, Accenture, Arcesium, Aditya Birla Capital, GEP, Asian Paints, Infosys to name a few.vEvn during the pandemic GIM students were able to get a 100% placement opportunity.

The total course fee is Rs 1882000 including the hostels.GIM provides ACCESS scholarships to meritorious students who excel in the selection process. Apart from that tuition fee waiver is provided to students who require it. Also, GIM has tie-ups with various banks for students to easily avail themselves of the loan.

Gim is a student-run campus and every activity organized here is entirely under the discretion of the various clubs and societies. Since there are more than 28 clubs and societies the events here are happening all year round. Samriddhi, the Annual Business Symposium and is the flagship event of the Goa Institute of Management. The library here has inbuilt ERP software. The entire library book collection is computerized and the catalog is available in ERP. RFID facilitates 24-hour access to the library which is equipped with over 26788 management and related books, in print format. GIM has a club for every activity from Prayas the sports club, SCOPES for operation management, SOFIA for finance, Mecca for marketing, HRiday for HR, and a lot more.

GIM provides hostel facilities for all its students on the campus. Both AC and Non AC accomodation is available on a twin sharing and single basis. But first years are generally provided with non-ac twin sharing basis accomodation. The hostel is very clean and has all the necessary amenities with a lot of greenery and mountains all around. The meals provided here is decided to keep in mind the health and need of all students. A healthy balanced and nutritious meal that is also tasty is served every day here.

The i-talk and wat were both based on recent news headlines so having a general awareness of what is going on around us is a must. Reading newspapers and keeping ourselves updated is the key to ace such rounds. The interview had some basic questions about how much we know ourselves and also some amount of GK. Preparing for the interview is crucial from beforehand and you get better in interviews as you give more mock PI.
