Remarks
1. I have applied to the colleges based on my scores like SIOM, SIBM Bengaluru, SIIB, GIM, TAPMI, and KJ Somaiya. I have attended the processes for all the colleges and was shortlisted in a few of them. After comparing the colleges based on education quality, alumni base, and placement I chose GIM. 2. I do not belong to any quota 3. Admission criteria for GIM were CAT-89%le, CMAT-98%le, XAT- 80%le. In UnderGraduate a candidate should have a minimum aggregate of 50%. 4. The admission process consists of 3 rounds. Because of the pandemic, all 3 rounds happened online. 1st round is Written ability where one needs to write an essay. 2nd round is i-talk which is an extempore round where an individual needs to speak about a given topic for 3 minutes. 3rd and last round is a personal interview.
Course Curriculum Overview
1. PGDM being the flagship course one gets the opportunity to float across various specializations while in the case of specialized courses like analytics and healthcare there are limited opportunities. 2. Student to Faculty ratio is Around 17:1 3. Majority of the faculty are Ph.D. holders and some of them even have good industry experience. All the faculty I have come across till now have a very unique teaching pattern and have a very practical approach towards teaching a concept. Teaching is based on case studies and ongoing market trends which helped me in relating it with the current happenings. 4. GIM has a Trimester pattern and term exams are held every 3-3.5 months. The exams are based on the understanding of the concepts and ideas rather than the regular way.
Internships Opportunities
1. GIM has 100% Summer placement. The average stipend is 66,000 and the highest is 1,70,000. Top companies like JPMC, GEP, Infosys, Arcesium, Asian Paints, etc. visit campus. 2. Students during their internships have to work on real-time problems and have to use their skillsets to resolve the problems and give recommendations.
Placement Experience
1. Students are eligible for placement from term 1 itself. Few companies come to the campus during the 1st month. 2. Name of a few companies visiting the campus is JPMC, GEP, Asian paints, EY, HDFC Bank, ITC, Goldman Sachs and etc. GIM has a 100% placement record. 3. Highest package is around 25.6 LPA and the average package is around 10.71 LPA. 4. All the students are placed from GIM. 5. I would like to work in a corporate and want to grow in the field of operations.
Fees and Financial Aid
1. Fee hike policy is similar to colleges across India. There is a maximum fee hike of 10% every year. There are immense learning opportunities and at the end of the day, one feels that paying such a huge fee is justified. 2. GIM does offer Financial Aid. 1st scholarship is based on academic achievement. 40 students are eligible to get this scholarship where they get a fee waiver of Rs. 4 lac. 2nd scholarship is for the HCM program where students with an MBBS degree get a scholarship of Rs. 4 lac. This scholarship is limited to 5 candidates.
Campus Life
Firstly the campus is very beautiful. It is 50 acres of lush green campus with varied flora and fauna. 1. There are around 28 clubs and societies at GIM and Inception is the annual cultural fest, Samriddhi is the annual business fest. 2. There are ample books available in the library. Apart from this you also get online access to libraries, journals, and databases. For research-based projects, one can leverage these platforms. 3. GIM has full AC classrooms with all the required amenities required in a B-school classroom. 4. Sports and extracurricular activities are happening across the year. GIM has a football ground, cricket ground, tennis and badminton court, swimming pool, gym and etc. 5. There are around 28 clubs and social groups in total at GIM. GIM has CSR clubs, creativity clubs, Club for sustainability, inclusivity, and diversity as well.
Hostel Facilities
1. During the 1st year it is mandatory to live in 2 sharing-based rooms and in the 2nd year, you get a separate single bedroom room with or without AC. 2. One gets 4 meals in a day and the whole meal part is handled by the Health club of GIM. The meal plan is prepared considering the daily nutrition intake requirement. 3. Hostel of GIM is affordable compared to other premier institutes of India. The registration process for Hostel is simple. One can register for a hostel while paying the term fees. 4. Renting a room is not allowed as it is a residential program.
Interview Experience
1. GD was not a part of the selection process. In I-talks topics asked were abstract and current affairs. A few of the topics were Electric cars for India, social media boon or a bane, future of the workplace, drone technology, etc. 2. Process consists of 3 rounds - Round 1 is written ability where one needs to write an essay on given topics. Topics can be abstract or current affairs. Round 2 is I-talk which is an extempore round where one needs to speak for 3 mins. Round 3 is the Personal Interview round. 3. Reading newspapers, articles, watching videos for current affairs, revising history and major event happened in recent past. Apart from this do join a GDPI course that will help you in practicing and rectifying your mistakes.
