Jamia Millia Islamia B.Tech (Computer Engineering) Review

I applied for many colleges through jossa counseling but I was not getting the college of my choice and I had also applied in Jamia Millia Islamia (B.Tech) program, So finally I left the jossa counseling in 4th round and selected Jamia Millia Islamia. Admission in Jamia Millia Islamia was on the basis of jee mains rank the candidate has got. And the counseling was done by the university administration itself. The counseling process was physical so I went to the university for my counseling and the process was a bit time-consuming it took about 5 hours for completing the whole counseling process. The administration was a bit strict regarding the incomplete documents but hopefully, I was having most of the documents with me on the counseling day except the migration certificate, I didn't face many issues regarding that. To complete the admission process we have to deposit an annual fee of Rs 16500 for the B.Tech program which is very nominal for B.Tech in my opinion.

I have always been fascinated by working in the field of Engineering and Technology and especially in the field of Computer and related technologies and I want to do innovations in the fields like Artificial Intelligence and IoT, so pursue the course of B.Tech(Computer Engineering). In B.Tech (Computer Engineering) program we have about 531 students and the number of faculty members is 14 in the department of Computer Engineering. In which 2 of them are Senior Professors and 10 are assistant professors and 2 are associate professors. Out of 14 faculty members, 13 have done Ph.D. The exams are conducted on time which includes semester exams and sessional exams, the teachers give really challenging problems for the betterment of the students.

The companies that offered internships include Trident Ltd on a stipend of Rs 50,000 on a monthly basis. The projects are based on control systems, robotics and automation. Roles that are offered are of the task of robotic engineer and Machine learning engineer.

From the 7th semester, students become eligible for campus placements in the University. Over 100+ companies visited the college campus and more than 90% of candidates got placed in the companies. The companies that participated in the placement drive were Microsoft, Accenture, Adobe Systems, Byju's, Innovaccer Analytics, SpringBoard, Wipro, Infosys Acxiom Consulting, TCS, etc. The highest package was 43 Lacs (CTC) from Microsoft and the average package is about 8-9 lacs. My plan after getting the degree is to do MS in Computer Science.

The total annual fee of Jamia Millia Islamia for the B.Tech Programme is Rs 16,500 (without a hostel). And the University also provides scholarships on merit-based to the top 3 rank holders. Also, the University also provides Internships to skillful students.

Many Cultural and Tech fest are conducted in the University like MIRAAS which is an inter-university cultural fest it is generally conducted in the month of February. And Tech Fest like Encomium-15 organized by IEEE JMI and Annual Technical cum cultural fest. The Zakir Hussain Library of the University has over 6 lakh books and journals which cover a wide variety of topics that students need. In the university there are facilities for both indoor and outdoor games for outdoor games there are giant sports complexes and stadiums and many cultural activities are performed on the campus. There are groups and clubs like Hashes, IEEE JMI, GDSC(Google Developer Student Club). etc.
