About the college in the heart of Thrissur

I only applied for my graduation in st.thomas college. I choose this college because this was autonomous and there were extracurriculars activities.There are three buildings for St Thomas college. The admission process was conducted in the open stage named palocaran square in Academic block. For the admission process the marklist, passport size photo Aadhar card etc were required. The admission was solely based on index marks. The name of the students who were in the merit list was called one by one. Their names with photos was there on the list. The list was shown in a screen set up in the stage. So it was easy to identify whether our names were called or not. The students whose name were called were to go to the stage where the officials who were assigned for the admission process is seated. They thoroughly examined the documents produced by the students.The students whose document verification was completed were sent to thier assigned seats.

I choose this course because every company needs an accounting personnel.So bcom is a course which provides job opportunities.The teaching in this college is best as the faculty members are very skilled and innovative.There are around 6 to 7 teachers in a class that is for almost 63 students. Many teachers have taken PhD in their respective fields and have a in-depth knowledge about the subjects.The odd semester exams were conducted in between October and November and the even semester exams were in the month of March. The exams were conducted timely till the spread of the pandemic. During the pandemic time even though there was changes in the months of exams they were conducted without causing any burdens to students. There were study leaves and the college provided about 2 days gap in between each exams which enabled students to perform better .

College directly are not providing any internships. But college is promoting the use of internshala LinkedIn like websites and making the students aware about various internship programs offered by many companies. Many students in the college are doing internships along with their studies which add to their successful career. College has provided free courses by a tie up with Coursera. Many students have attained a number of certificated courses from this.

Our college has provided more than 400 placement for the last final year batch. Many reputed Companies such as South Indian Bank wipro Infosys cognizant etc have come and many students have got placed in these organization. Around 3 lakh per annum are offered by these companies. For conducting placements a cell named placement cell has been organized which makes the students capable for the interview and examination of the companies. The placement cell arranges programs for the final year students and mainly the companies aim those students.

There were scholarships for financially backward students and these were given on the basis of their excellence in academics. Many endowments are given to students who excelled in each subject. To students who belonged to a particular caste there was fee reduction. Their fee were refunded. The placement programs given by the college is appreciable. Many reputed companies such as south indian bank , Wipro, cognizant, federal bank etc have come for the placement and more than 400 students have got placed in these companies.

The main attraction of the college is the final fest in which each department in the college compete for the overall trophie. Commerce department was the winner in the last fest conducted offline. During pandemic times the annual fest was conducted online with all the limitations. Our college library is one of the library with largest collection of books. Separate libraries are there for English and Malayalam books. We can know the place of the book from college website. The classrooms are well occupied with projector and enough desk and benches. As the college is located in the heart of thrissur there are the limitations for windows. There are many clubs in the college that cater to the needs of the variety of students. Some of them are cookery club dance club entrepreneur development club etc.
