St thomas - A highly reputed college

I have applied for a number of colleges, like SN college alathur but preferred st Thomas above all those. St Thomas is a highly reputed college and has produced many prominent leaders in many fields in politics and the film industry. The college has a high ranking in India and stands out among all the colleges in India according to the NIRF rating. After receiving the plus two results and a mark of 97% I was not sure if I would get allotted to this college. But lucky I got in as the cut-off mark for the general quota in merit was 97%. I was 18. The admission process was very simple. Apply for the allotments online after paying rs 200. The rank list is published according to the marks received in plus two. On the day of admission, an officer announces the cut-off mark, and students are enrolled on the spot. The details of the students are verified by inspecting the certificates and documents. After getting enrolled, the HOD furnished the details about the course job opportunities of the course.

I chose B.com because it provides opportunities in various fields of careers. My goal was to be a professional in CA. Also, I am very interested in the field of commerce. The way the teachers teach is actually interesting. The class has a strength of sixty students.40 girls and 20 boys. The commerce department has a total faculty of 10 teaching staff. The professors there has a qualification or Ph.D. They are highly experienced and have been teaching for a long time. The interesting fact is that they were once students in the same college. They make the class interactive and create a rapport with the students. The exams were conducted timely at every term. Even the corona mildly affected the term exams. The exams were made less difficult at the time of the pandemic and really helped students. The only cons are that the classes were highly packed and the campus was not big.

The internships start at the 6th sem. The internship is paid. The college gives internships from reputed companies like jurni. The internships are not highly focused though they give experience in the related field.

The college provides good placements for the students.it has placed 264 students in the last year during a pandemic. The students become eligible at the 5th sem if they have scored 60% and don't have any backlogs. Numerous companies like SIB, Deloitte, byjus, Infosys have recruited the students. The highest package being 10 lakh p.a. And the avg being 2 lakh p.a. I plan to pursue CA after completing this degree. It is a promising field.

This course is government-aided. The fee is less burden. It has a fee of rs 3000 yearly. And the exam fee was 1500 for each semester. There was no fee hike during the pandemic. The fee or sc/st is significantly low. The campus provides numerous scholarships for students. Like post metric, girl child, and for the sc/st. The college does not provide jobs on campus.

There is an annual youth fest in which the students exhibit their skills in arts, literature as well as sports. The college has a huge library for students of different departments. The classes are satisfactory. It has desks benches, lights, fans, and a blackboard. The students actively participate in sports and have secured places in Calicut university matches.it has got a trophy in d zone matches in the arts field. There are a number of clubs in the college. Cookery club, Fine arts club, Music club, Film club, Adventure club, Drama club.

The room is spacious. The hostel provides a one-person room as well as a room for two people. It has a chair table, fan, a bed, and shelves. The food served is holly. They give specials every Friday. They provide meals three times a day and a ye and snack in the evening. They have a menu of puttu,dosa,idli,chutney,sambar,rice,vegetalbes,porotta vada,and birinies for specials. To get in the hostel meet with the warden. He gives a quick insight into the hostel facilities and the rules there. The fee for the hostel is shared among the occupants and divided at the end of each month. The hostel is inside the campus in Thrissur city. Therefore it is easily accessible.
