Entrance Preview

BITSAT, 298/450 The reason I opted for this college is that it is one of the best college in the country and offers great flexibility in terms of developing your skills.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

B.Pharma -The lectures are taught on slides. Mostly they are theory oriented and you may find them boring. You will also be having 4-12 hrs of practical lab depending upon your year of study where you will be conducting experiments on industrial, physical, medicinal and dispensing pharmacy and biological chemistry.

Internships Opportunities

No, college doesn't provide internship for non full time students. However they have minor programs in Finance and Humanities which can only be opted with your degree program.

Fees and Financial Aid

College offers merit cum need scholarship if your CGPA is greater than 6 and parents annual income less than 6 lakhs. The higher the CGPA the more will be the scholarship which varies from 15% to 80% of the tuition fees. Merit scholarship is offered to top 1-2% students of a degree and varies from 25 to 50% of tuition fees. Loans are easy to get from any bank.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is awesome and that is the best part of college. All types of indoor/outdoor sports facilities are available inside the campus. You can join drama, photography, book reviewing, debating, robotics, wall street, fashion, mime, dance, mountaineering, automative, humanoid and creative activity club depending upon you interest. Apart from these clubs there are regional associations representing each state of India.

Alumni/Alumna

They is strong alumni international alumni network called BITSAA which hosts annual get together. Once in a year a BITSian day is organised where events are hosted all across the world wherever alumni from BITS reside. The association also have scholarship programs. There are separate facebook groups for job referrals, accomodation and general help which are pretty actives.

Exam Structure

The labs in Pharma will be hectic and you cannot skip more than 3 labs in semester for a subject. In Physics labs will not be that much hectic but will of 2-3 hrs. You have have 2-3 labs for a subject in day. The frequency of labs will be twice to thrice in a week. Throughout the semester you will be giving 6 or 8 or 12 surprise/announced tutorial tests in which you will get 1 or two tests as buffer.

Admission

I got admission through a online entrance exam called BITSAT. The whole process is online from submitting your application to getting your admit card printed. You can opt own date and time slot for the test and the test happens in May and June. The notification for the test will come during December.

Faculty

3

In terms of punctuality, every faculty member is very punctual. For 80 % of the faculty members you will find their lectures boring and will skip their lectures. this is the scenario for every college in India including IITs. The rest 20% are good and you can learn a lot from them. The level of paper will be good. If you are scoring 50-60% marks in Physics then you are topper of the subject. The average will be around 30-35% marks.

Course Curriculum Overview:

- The course curriculum was specifically based on giving more knowledge and insights about the course I chose. I went onto specialization and chose microbiology and learnt that it has various other fields because of the curriculum. - The course and lab prepares well for the real-world applications. - There should have been more hands-on experience with some lab equipments and some teachers should have given more guidance to the students. - Frequency of exams and difficulty level was good. No complaints about that.

The curriculum is updated and is on par with central universities. The curriculum is relevant if you want to make your career in research. More distinct and relevant additional electives could be incorporated into the curriculum as some aren't as relevant as they used to be.
