Entrance Preview
I took AIEEE in 2011 and scored 204 marks to qualify the exam. I chose this college as it was one the best colleges of the north India and I had heard a lot about this college. All my teachers also asked me to go for this college, if I could get through.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum has great depth and covers the topic in great detail. It vastly covers the engineering aspects and also I have found to be a little more and better than what other colleges have. The electives are either deeper mechanical subjects like vibrations, tribology, Dynamic design of mechanical systems etc, or inter disciplinary subjects like mechatronics.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, it does, Hero Moto Corp and L&T were there when I was in 3rd year. The stipend amount I don't know but one of my friends got internship with Hero and he received Rs 5000 per month for 2 months.
Placement Experience
Placement opportunities are great. After the registration for the 7th sem a lot of companies are lined up. Companies for mechanical, CS, IIT, Electronics line up. Companies like Bajaj Auto, Maruti Suzuki, reliance, L&T, Flipkart , Amazon, HP and a lot other are the one to come in the very 1st month. Average package varies branch wise but it is something 5-7 LPA for mechanical and somewhere around 8 fro CS and IT.
College Events
At the start when one joins there is a fresher's event called swagat. Soon to be followed by Tech event of Avishkar which covers great events including robotics, RC car events, and RC copters.A and then there is cultural event and the even sem. These are major events which include other minor ones. Also there are other events which are organised from time to time all over the year to keeps all the clubs and SAC busy.
Fee Structure And Facilities
During my time the fee, as I see it and as my father tell me, was feasible. There were scholarships for students from economically backward grounds.
Fees and Financial Aid
There were a lot of scholarship opportunities like PD Tondon scholarship, Jlal scholarship and also for top 10% of the students there was a scholarship which i also received.
Campus Life
Campus life as good as it could get. Gender ratio wasn't 50-50 but wasn't too poor. Mechanical , electrical and Civil branches, though, had a lot less girls. While they were in good number in other branches. Students not only from different states but different countries are here. My few good friends happen to be from Bhutan and Bangladesh now. Overall there isn't any issue over gender, ethnicity, race, religion.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network,as of now, is being set up and isn't well flourished. Every year alumni convention is there to gather the alumni. Alumni network is also active on social sites.
Exam Structure
There were 2 mid semester and one semester exam. The labs were weekly. The viva and all were with end semester only. It wasn't too hectic but wasn't chilled out as well. The mid-semester were in 2nd and 3rd month of the semester and are of 1:30 hours while the end semester is of 3 hours. The time and duration of the exam and time between the exams is altogether okay.
Admission
Initially forms were filled. A 3 hour test, comprising of 90 questions, had to be taken and then the results were announced with ranks and marks for those getting above a cut-off mark. Then there was online counselling where one had to select college and streams. It was processed and college was allotted. Then one had to go to the nearest NIT college for offline registration, choice locking and further up-gradation.
