Remarks
First of all, I was really confused as to which college should I go for, as I believe everyone is after their class 12th. I had applied for admission in Acropolis and Prestige as well and I got shortlisted too. But I chose IIST. The reason behind my choice is that every other private college in Indore is pretty much of the same level. But when it comes to IIST, the major plus point is that there are different SIGs (Special Interest Groups) which prove to be highly beneficial for the students. I had scored 80.4% in 12th and 52 percentile in the JEE Mains. One of the good things about taking admission here is that your fees is deducted according to your marks. For example, the total fees for the B.Tech CS branch is 81,000 but since I scored 80.4% my fees was reduced to 67,000 a year. Also, throughout the admission process the faculty was really helpful and polite unlike other colleges who start ignoring you once you've taken admission there.
Course Curriculum Overview
When it comes to choosing a course I believe it's a personal preference, based on our interests and skills. I had taken PCM in my 11th standard so that I could pursue a B.Tech degree in the future in the computer science branch. During my visit to the college, I was given a thorough knowledge as to what exactly is engineering and what am I going to learn here. Not only the faculty briefed me about the branch that I was interested in i.e. CS but also the other branches in engineering so that I was sure before taking a step further. Currently, we have 3 batches for the CS branch with a 70:1 student teacher ratio. The faculty is highly qualified and their teaching methods are also very efficient. In a semester we have 2 MSTs (mid-sem tests) and at the end of the sem, we have our end sem exams and viva. Passing an examination is not hard if you study well enough for it, which is what the faculty focuses on.
Internships Opportunities
The college organizes many internship opportunities and workshops for students in various fields. They also provide us with free access to Coursera, Skillrack, Edx, etc. Where we can learn many certified courses for free which can, later on, be beneficial for our resume.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for campus placements after the 6th semester. Many renowned companies such as byju's, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Glenmark, etc. have visited the campus and hired students with a generous package. The average package here is 4 LPA and the highest is 12 LPA. The CDC (career development cell) is highly active and trains every student to be industry ready.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fee for the CS branch is 81,000. But it will get reduced according to your 12th board marks. Like I had secured 80.4% in 12th class so my fees were reduced to 67,000. Compared to IIST the other colleges in Indore are quite expensive. IIST is much affordable and fulfils all the requirements of a student pursuing engineering. There are various scholarships based on your caste as well. If any student's financial status is not stable he/she is given financial relief too. As we all know that during the covid period many students lost their earning parent, such students are given special relief so as to reduce their burden.
Campus Life
The campus has a lush green environment that soothes one's eye and maintains a refreshing experience for us. There are abundant books in the college library. You don't have to spend a large amount of money on buying books as the college issues you books for the current semester you're studying in. An E-library is also provided by the college. There are various sports clubs as well like football, volleyball, etc. There are many groups that are run by students. Like the Lexicon club where the literary skills of a student are nurtured. Various academic groups are also there.
